Need to get myself a drill after borrowing and returning dads about 20 times over the last 12 months.
Don't want to spend a fortune - max £100- and must be cordless. Only for stuff around the house.
Black & Decker 14.4v Lithium Ion EVO
What to the voltages mean in real life? I think dads is this 18v one but don't know if the lower power makes much difference?

I've got a worx one which has taken an absolute battering over the 6 years I've had it and would recommend another one. Also got a Bosch corded drill and that's done well too. There do seem to be a few deals round on Makita and Dewalt drills which are a bit more commercial than the others but for normal household stuff, you probably don't need to spend more than £80

General stuff like putting up shelves and stuff most of the time, but I have also custom-built wardrobes in the past (and need to do another one now)

both me and my dad have makita's and they are brilliant value for money. got mine for £80 with 2 batteries and a nice case.

go for the blue bosch with the nicad batteries they really do make a massive difference

When your using it for general DIY it wont make fuck all difference. PLus i'd rather have a better quiality drill than Li-on.

the makita will last forever. nothing wrong with it. my dads has been caked in cement and all sorts and still runs fine after all these years.
there is a reason they're so popular.

I love Makita shit, have a sander and hammer drill. But the blue Bosch is a cool little drill.

I'd rather have Li-ion Gary, like the Bosch one's posted, it does make a difference.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the Makita, I'm saying that out of those 2, the Bosch is the better one imo.

Ive owned and abused the makita.
I now use a Dewalt XRP Li-ion, can honestly say i would prefer nicad as at least you have some warning that your batt is going flat.

If you aren't using nicad daily the batteries will die more quickly.
Li-ion is better here.

nicad last longer than li-ion, and harder to damage.
I've had zero nicads fail on me. My Li-ion failed after 11months.
Although, as a general DIY drill. Just buy some cheap shit for the amount it'll get it'll get used.

For cost and cordless, Makita all day long! Personally i wouldn't be buying DeWalt (basically a B&D) or Bosch as i've had issues with both. However as Gary said, if it's just for putting the odd bookcase together then get anything.

Makita all day long screwfix do a combi drill on offer for about your budget.
Makita dicks all over dewalt and I use my makita tools every day and the lad I work with uses dewalt but he will pick up my tools before his own  I've got impact driver, combi drill, recip saw and a big grinder.
