Closer to the arm pit the nippier it gets.

Clean all that aftercare gel crap off with hot soapy water. Youll know if you havent because youll see it when you dry it.
Clean it in the morning and at night and use bepanthen.

Do that without letting it dry, dont pick the scabs and youll be fine

Everytime i get a tattoo, i jump in a hot bath.. when drying just pat the tattoo, then layer as much bepanthen on as humanly possible.

I'v been told the complete opposite about the cream, after I got mine they told me to cover the tattoo completely but only with a very thin smear. Obviously if it's worked for you then I can't knock it but I thought that was a bit odd.

No need to drown it. Enough to keep it moist so the scabs arent dried out and knocked off is enough.

Use bepanthen but heat it up before you put it on, its not that spreadable at room temp.

As per sc0ott, closer you get to your pits, nippier it gets.

My chest piece was my first tattoo. In places it was fine but in the middle of your chest is very painful. Worth it though.

Seen a few tattooists cover the job in cling film when done. If he does this, get if off as soon as possible and use a regular cotton bandage in stead. It needs to breath.

I have 2 sleeves and I always put bepanthen into a mug of warm water to make it spread easier. Then after 5-6 hours use baby wipes and rest them on tattoo, gently soaking up excess, you'll notice the bepanthen has got some of the colour on it now. Then reapply bepanthen and repeat. You will go through bepanthen at an alarming rate but it will be the best aftercare for the tattoo.

My after care routine is

As soon as I get home after remove all cling film and wash using almost scolding water.

Next day wash it again.

First hint of it drying out put a thin layer of bepanthan on it. just enough to stop it looking dry.

I'll do that for a couple of days. I heal very quickly and normally 7 or 8 days after its healed.

I started to put bepanthen on mine as soon as i got home,

got home took off the dressing, cleaned it, put on a generous (not drowning it) layer of cream then sat with my top off for a few hours to let it get some air

then every morning clean it and put on the cream, and same when i got home from work, and if it was drying out i'd put some on before bed

i never let mine dry out at all though was advised against it or it starts to fade, mine was healed within 5/6 days and still looks as bright as the day it was done

Same here phillips, the girl told me to put it on morning and night which I did, but I also put it on whenever it was feeling dry.

Balling, the clingfilm is just to stop any bleeding fast and using it means that there's no chance of the fibres you'd get from bandages or dressings sticking to the skin. I got it put on mine and was told to just remove it in 3-6hrs, wash the tattoo with hottest water possible, let it air for 30min and then just start using the bapanthen, no need to replace it with anything.

Drinking thins the blood, not sure what smoking does.

Dont take any painkillers before either.
