also is the polisher it self any good at all?

Popular choice is the kestrel das6, cheaper version of the megs g220 iirc

im sure you can get a much better one for around that price. Id go for one with a speed setting on.

It has a speed setting on it, and he's after a kit, not just a polisher.
The Dodo polisher is just a rebranded DAS-6 though with different colour plastics.

Yer after a full kit if possible
There was a post a few months or weeks back a lad was after one aswell.
There was a kit for sale with 3 pads 2 different typed of polish and some cloths aswell as the polisher. I think
That sort of thing?
I saw the kestrel das-6. Kind of looked like a bit cheap compared to any of the others
But that might just be me haha

If you can stretch your budget a bit I'd buy a DAS-6 Pro kit from Clean Your Car or the Meguiars Microfibre DA system kit they're offering.
Cloths can be picked up cheap enough elsewhere

I got the £200 quid meguiars one, spent hours on my clio, achieved nothing so sold it on.
Bought a £50 silverline ebay job and had more success with it.

Tend to agree. Certainly on my Audi and brothers BMW the DAS-6 just never seemed to have the grunt needed to correct.
Worked great on my brothers Astra though.

Does it not also depend how abrasive a pad your using and whatever polishing compound rather than the machine itself?

A DA will struggle on German paints, however, the Meguiars Microfibre System is an impressive bit of kit on a DA even on the harder paints...

Silverline isn't bad if you're not going to use it often.
It's a tad on the heavy side if you use it a lot.
Clean your cars EP800 Rotary is much lighter and a good piece of kit.

well ill only be using it for my corsa every once in a while and maby for a cuple of mates cars if i learn how to use it properly. Not wanting to be useing it every day or anything
Silverline seems to come out trumps for a cheap but good polisher?
And as for starting out. Should i just get a very soft pad and a very light polish and just work with that untill i get more confident?

I think Silverline is a rotary while the DAS-6 etc is a dual action.

Rotaries are cheaper and better in the right hands.
You'll shag you're paint with a rotary if your careless.

The way i looked at it is this:
I like to give the car a polish/wax after most washes, i find the DAS6 is good for giving car a good shine and saves loads of finger aching from doing it by hand.
If i get a small amount of correction each time i use it, then eventually any defects in the laquer will of been cut out gradually.
Or i get a proper rotary, do it once and worry the laquer is too thin the next time i want to do it.
i find it great for dealing with water stains and getting a nice shine.

see 3cm thats exactly how i want to do it tbh. Just to give it a good shine up and if it corrects the paintwork then awsome. Yanno? I realy dont wanna risk any brake throughs or any marring on the laquer

get the silverline kit, i use it and its fine, these ebay job lot is a good base

The green is a harsh compound (stuff that is likely to burn through)
Yellow is to remove the swirl marks the green leaves
Blue for the flawless finish
I used to use just the blue on black magic fabia VRS, after washing, and it would come out like glass, i dont know wat colour your car is but if its dark colour then that stuff is ideal (providing the paint is in decent enough condition)
