hi guys,
only joined the website recently.
il give a quick explanation with some pictures about my car, ive owned it since may 2011.
I bought the car spares or repairs of a guy in Bournemouth,
it was an xe corsa. i didnt know nothing about them when i bought it.
but basically the guy said it had tax and mot, but no seatbelts, exhaust was loud. so he reccommended it be trailered.
As theyre pricey i took a harness down with me, paid him the cash and drove it home.
it drove home sweet, the only issues i had was cooling, it had a shit rad on. over 65 i just watched the gauge climb up into the red.
lone and behold a week later the head gasket blew. so i got head skimmed new gasket too, whilst i was at it i fitted a race alloy rad, havent had a problem since.
i blew the bottom end up about august last year, my own fault for not checking the oil.
Scrapped the crank.
luckily found one that day on ebay for £80 and was 5 miles from my house, very lucky. picked it up that night fitted it the next day wich was sunday. and was at the street races that night
anywho since then i had got a bit bored of the power, it was quick. but i had gotten used to it.
So using the scrap engine, i bought a let bottom end, not intentionally, i only needed a crank as i was using the block that i scrapped the crank off.
so got a let crank, some let pistons, and built a let engine
so its an xe with let pistons and a return drilled and tapped.
i did everything in 8 weeks, not bad going throughout the freezing cold we had end of last year.
since the turbo conversion it been no end of stupid problems.
but its all coming together now.
heres a few pics from start to now and will be continuing as i carry on...............
when i bought it.....
had to get new wheels, it was on economy tyres
also needed a spoiler to cover the primer....
also from this picture you can see ive fitted a side exit exhaust. basically its the same system i bought the car with but it had basically snapped. so i cut the snapped bits out, used what parts i had left and the only decent place for it was there, made a hanger and welded the pipe up.......
then the morrettes had to go....
this is the new rad.........
pic of the bay when i got it......
and i managed to blag a police officer that was a 1.2
then this happened........
engine out...
new engine in the next day.......
i was really proud of the xe, it was a great car very quick, and although it doesnt look it it was reliable. only broke due to me!
but i gave it death and it survived really.
stock xe ran a 14.9 at 97mph on the drag strip, i was extremel happy with this..
i thought it was time to move on, so built the new engine over the winter and put it in so heres the engine......
its such a mess there, but wasnt finished, now its completely finished it all looks like this......
as we speak, i have coilovers all round, the gaz coilovers on the rear have changed the car, its amazing.
I have v6 brakes up front and rear disc conversion.
stripped out, f20 box with quick shift.
phase 3 ecu
STANDARD driveshafts and hubs.
you may not believe me, but there 1.2 jobbies, ive been the drag strip a number of times and gave the car death, and to this day fingers crossed ive never ever replaced any of it.
along the way, i bought a second hand turbo, worked for few weeks until this happened.....
the shaft snapped. so im not using a replacement just fine
also my plastic coolant pipe at the back of the engine cracked, so i had this billet one made....
i can get these made by a friend for a fee if anybody is interested.
im extremely happy with the poerformace of the car, at the moment i am fitting competition engine mounts as the one gearbox side on my snapped the other day and my tie bar was holding the engine up .
anyway hope you guys like the read, there will be updates on progress.
any comments are welcomed.
cheers for your time
james

i sold the morrettes for 100 sold the bucket seats for 300 technically the car cold me £200
and yeye its a nice bit of ally. ive come from that to an oil breather tank, and also done the breather plate trick and came from the back that normally goes to intak into the breather tank, so bottom end and top end are breathing well.

yeah thanks for that now!!!!!
there a bitch!!!
the gearbox one was easy, i used a 25mm holesaw where the bolt head should be.
but the other side i ground the head down on the bold to about 4mm then it wedged perfectly in
i was cursing you earlier
but obviously not your fault, wherever ida got them from would have been the same.

had some time this afternoon so whipped up a strut brace out of some spare rollcage tube i had....
its 90%percent finished.
heres some pics....
cut both side plastics out...
mocking the across pipe up
all welded together...
all grinded down now
finished...
i just need to know on a normal corsa strut brace. does it go underneath the top strut rubber? or ontop? i imagine below?
but until i know this i cant make the bottom the hole in.
cheeers

doesn't the coilover have a hex on the shaft so you can get a spanner on it to keep the shaft from rotating when you do up the nut? are you going to have problem to get to this?
