I actually quite like the Meg's one, the mesh thing on the back is handy for using on plastic trim.

Please don't use a sponge
Use a wash mitt, it's personal preference to which one you use

Nothing wrong with sponges, everyone used them along with chamois leathers until the internet was invented.

Tried to use a wash mitt once. Didn't feel right, felt like i was stroking an animal and not actually washing a car, felt gay as fuk.
So will stick to using a sponge, seems to work fine and never had any issue's. Just stay away from those scourer sponges incase you have it wrong way around.

i use a dodo juice microfibre sponge. seems to work fine.
i've used wash mitts but you feel more of a dick than using 2 buckets to wash 1 car.

Sponges are fine to use as long as they are used correctly. And like Corb just pointed out, Zymol do a good one, so do Dodo juice and there is also one sold on Elitecarcare that is cheaper but also brilliant!
Sponges are only bad in the wrong hands.

There is no right or wrong way to use a sponge, so saying they are fine if used correctly is a load of bollocks.

I've always found proper natural sponge to be pretty good. Think the reason most people say sponges are bad is 'cus they tend to get a cheap synthetic one from Halfords and they tend to be a bit iffy 'cus there closed cell(ish).

when i first got into driving and this detailing malarky was not so known about i used a sponge and i always had swirls on my cars, in the summer it was so noticeable, for the last couple of years after using wash mitts it is without a doubt alot less noticeable and you get a far better clean, imo a mitt is more flexible and gets into places a sponge does not, a sponge is almost rigid in comparison, either way i wont go back to a sponge ever.

The right way is to use circular motions (applies to sponges and mitts) and to rinse the sponge frequently. Also using a decent shampoo helps.
Wrong way is basically the opposite.

This is why i said about natural sponges, there far softer and their more open cell so dirt isn't held on the surface.

I wouldn't really class that as a wrong way to use it though. Ive bought hundreds of sponges over the years and non of them have had "directions for use" etc written on them.
You could argue that doing circular motions rather than side to side is a better way to use it, but saying its the wrong way is a load of pish.
