I am currently at Oxford service station and my belt on my car has almost slid off where the power steering pulley is....
Can the AA sort this? Just rang them.... I stopped due to smell of burning

I very much doubt that's the cambelt, more likely to be the auxiliary/fan belt. Yes they can fix that, cambelt - no.

Aux belt, PS pump will be loads of money, tell them to deliver it home and you'll find one.

What about the tensioners? You should really be replacing those as well

I know but priority is to get home really... Not ideal being stuck down south!!
I was booking car in for tensioner and waterpump change but the power steering pump has gone now!
Im hoping they have a belt that just runs the essentials as this shouldnt cost too much at all. I had a quick search online for a power steering pump on an is300 and could not find any...

not essential unless they are noisy on a aux belt

Why not? They should be able to tow you.

Very weird to hear that from someone who replaces parts that are not broken.
Its a bit like the water pump and cambelt service, they dont have to be making noises before theyre due to be replaced.

WTF? The Aux belt on my Mazda made a bid for freedom once on the way to work, I popped down to halfords in a mates car, picked up a belt and the AA came and fixed it for me (no tools)

if a cambelt or tensioner goes so does your engine, if you aux belt or tensioner goes then at worst your battery stops charging and your car cuts out, thats why its not worth worrying about unless the tensioner is obviously showing signs of wear
the waterpump replacementis just common sense as its a fairly large job to do the cambelt, a few hours work, if the tensioner on the aux belt goes it will take about 10 mins to get at

Ok here is an update people....
Car is still in banbury, they have said they can repair all for 1.5k !!!
The PS pump is knackered as the pully is literally hanging off....I have asked if they can bypass the power steering pump and AC pulley by using a smaller belt so I can drive home on it......149 miles to get home!
Anybody every heard of this before?
Waiting for them to call me.....
Otherwise I need to get a flatbed trailer to take me back home

Yeh basic cover, its in with authorised repairer which is halfords autocentre.....
They are working on putting a makeshift belt onto it so i can drive it home without AC and PS...

Doing what they are doing will be the best bet at the moment.
Failing that, i would just upgrade to a level of AA cover that will see them bring the car home without having to pay £2.50 p/m.
