Thought a tv licence was for bbc1 only cause there don't have adverts during a show can't see why you would have to pay for watching the above

Just another way for them to screw people over tbh, same as students needing one for each room in a shared house etc..

Do I need a TV licence to watch programmes on BBC iPlayer?

You do not need a television licence to catch-up on television programmes in BBC iPlayer, only when you watch or record at the same time (or virtually the same time) as it is being broadcast or otherwise distributed to the public. In BBC iPlayer, this is through the Watch Live simulcast option.

It depends whats being watched, if its TV catchup, then you do not, but if its live TV, then obviously.
This also matches the TV licencing website

If you watch iplayer on a device plugged in you need a licence for that premises, if it's running off its own internal battery your own licence from home applies

IMO people should have option. If I was given choice of losing BBC and saving 150 a year on tv license i would. Its annoying paying 60odd to sky then have to pay for a license on top

Just going off the flyers I got through the post when I moved into halls, specifically stated that if I was watching on something powered by its own batteries was fine but if I wanted to watch live tv or iplayer on a laptop or computer plugged into the wall id need my own licence.

When I rang them she said even if you have a phone that can watch the BBC on you need one, basically you just need one if you CAN watch TV. Whether you do or not. I said what if I play my Xbox and never watch TV she said I'd still need one, proper load of shit

£145 a year and you get the following spammed day and night.

"I've only got 500k to spend and I cant find a house to buy, please help"

"I Live in a massive house worth about 500k, I sound rather posh and there is a brand new motor out the front but I'm so poor I can't afford a £400 trip so I'm going to sell my antiques at auction"

"Today we're going to be cooking"

And that's the BBC in a large nut shell.

Some of the best documentaries, drama programming and sports coverage comes from the BBC.

Most of the stuff I personally watch on TV are on channels that I pay a Sky subscription for, i.e. Discovery/History/Universal/Sky One etc.

The only time I normally watch a BBC channel is for regional news at teatime but even that is so shit I don't watch it all the time.
