I am going to buy a fan tomorrow as my office is like a greenhouse (until I find a portable a/c machine I want to buy that actually works ), just been looking on the Comet website and they sell these poncey looking Dyson air multipliers for £200-£300.
WTF? Seriously, you could buy a portable a/c machine for that money - why the hell would you spend that money on what is essentially a fan (and not a very good one I might add based on my review of one on demonstration at our local Currys).
I know it looks stylish and that, but I don't think I would pay any more than say £80 for that!

You're spelling it wrong.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Do you just like to contradict everything John? Just for the sake of it?
Dysons are brilliant Vacums and those Dyson fans are fantastic compared to traditional fans.

they got rid of handtowels at my work recently in favour for these airblades.
They are alright i guess, cant say they are amazing or any better then a normal hand drier , i also dont understand how they are "the most hygenic" over a normal automatic handdrier?
i notice the airblades collect a load of shit at the bottom which looks rank, a normal automatic one wouldnt do this so IMO is more hygenic.

unless i am missing something?

Barnshaw, the Dyson fan is called an "air multiplier" (which is what I wrote in my original post)... I don't understand why people are talking about hand driers in my thread TBH?

The vacuum's aren't anywhere near as good as the Numatic range, the air multiplier blows some air about, I wouldn't say it's better than a normal fan though.
A broken dyson vac sitting in the corner of every building also isn't a good endorsement.

Are Numatic cleaners not aimed at industrial/commercial customers? Bit like comparing Cummins to BMW.

Not sure, even if it was, if it's better what's the difference?

Most Dyson products have very annoying design flaws in them. The Airblade - take a look on the floor underneath one when you use one next, water everywhere. Plus they get very grubby. The Cityvac - the hose is too short and needs to have a hinged joint where it joins the main body of the vacuum and I think it's only designed for people about 5 ft tall to use. A lot of their older vacuum cleaners couldn't go from a hard surface to a carpet without throwing the drive belt on the brush too.
It's a shame they wouldn't employ me to fix their design issues (bitter much?)

Dyson has the Apple factor. Folk would lap up anything with a patent and a Dyson badge.

Different jobs. Our Dyson would have died if I used to for all the work in the garage and the building work we used it for.

I disagree; my iPhone and MacBook Pro actually work unlike other branded phones and computers/laptops I've owned in the past (of which I've had many). That and the designer look of their products are some of the reasons why people like buying Apple products.
As an aside - I would have gone off on one about shit British engineering - however you may or may not know that the chief designer at Apple is actually British
