anyone had any experience with this? my mate in work suggested it to me as my roof is green (not mouldy, it was an optional extra)
i do like the green as it's different but i also think it would look great in black, but worried the dye would look crap and end up fading.

I'd leave it, Looks smart plus if not done properly you could have problems with it running aswell as fading?

running is also a worry.
the green is very hard to keep looking nice rather than faded, and i also feel it doesn't really tie in with the black wheels.

Take hardtop off on sunny days, leave roof down. Put hardtop back on when home. If its nice the next day, same process as day before, if its not so nice, leave hardtop on. Win win.

Quite like the green me, just think dying it would be a risky move without some previous experience! Are there any companies about who specialise in dying convertibles?

Im assuming the ragtop has to be unbolted and taken off to put a hardtop on?
This is England, chances are it would be a glorious summers day and then suddenly piss it down and if he has no roof he is fucked

Ah right there goes that idea. I just thought it would bolt on over the top of the roof.
With the roof down that is.

Just had a quick look. Hardtop can be fitted with the roof folded down so no need to remove it.
Bought 1 yet??

Fold the roof down and put the hardtop on, that' it.
Wouldn't be taking it off everyday though, there not as small as they seem when your trying to store them!

Not really, you simply lift the top off on the 5% of the year it's sunny and ride around with the car looking 5 times better with the hardtop the rest of the year.

we've had good weather here for a week constantly so far. every night and morning i'd have to take the hardtop off and as ian w said, it's not as light and small as it looks.
for winter, yes they are perfect, but for extended periods of mild weather, it isn't worth the hassle.

that's the thing. a hardtop on modern car is purely for looks. it doesn't get cold inside (my puma was colder) and you can hear more of the outside world.
maybe in an old triumph tr6 the roof's weren't very well insulated. but the z4's roof has 3 layers so keeps the heat in. only bad thing about this is when it's warm and raining. but then that's what air con is for.
