Just been told about loads of new 1 and 3 series getting pinched cos of how easy it is to nick them.
They are being stolen by getting a blank key card and taking the window out, put blank key in and programming said key via the OBD port and drive the car away!
Seems like a massive cock up for BMW

Yep can be stolen within 60 seconds
The alarm has a blind spot on the drivers side and they don't have sensors for breaking glass so ppl are reaching down reprogramming and driving away, BMW has said there's nothing wrong with there security systems! I was to buy a 135 a few weeks back but after doing my research it's put me off, it's not just them either it's all push button start bmw's

As said, bottom of the window nearest the wing mirror has no sensor. Major bmw fuck up.

I' never buying a car again though, if a problem is mentioned on a forum then that car is useless to me, leaves no cars.

Have a read on pistonheads.
About a month ago, literally every single day someone was saying their 335i, 335d, 535d etc had gone missing - pretty much all of them in east london.
Someone posted a link n the forum, which is for the quipment that lets you programe keys from somewhere in easten europe. Think it was about 5000 euro.

Search it on YouTube, seriously takes seconds once in the vehicle, the police stated that thousands of bmw's had gone missing in just 1 month

I mind hearing about some car that was built in circa '09 that could be nicked by just snipping the handbrake cable and bumping it in some way that knocked it out of gear. It could then be rolled onto a trailer and towed away. Don't know how they for around the alarm tho.

Its allegedly easy to drill the drivers side lock, leaving no external damage and just requiring a lock replacement, then reprogramming the keys as mentioned.
We seem to get problems with BMW bumpers going missing on a regular basis. Apparently very easy to get off without needing to get in the car.

tbh this is no worse than turning the hazard switch upside down on a corsa B & bumping it.

Its easy to interrogate an OBD port with purpose built software though and sadly theres always a way to do these things. Relay logics pretty straight laced but that was a absolute fuckup, turn the switch upside down and you get full elec's on oops

On the Nova it wasnt full electrics! I've tried it, turned the switch over whilst engine was running, took the key out and found that the Rad Fan did not kick in...... A minor issue and something the Tealeafs wouldnt be too worried about!

Shit myself the other night because I came home and there was a mark of yellow paint on our house under the door bell, I've never noticed it before so didn't really think much of it but when I got in the Mrs goes, 'have you seen that paint by the door'...which made me think of a story I heard a while back whereby gypos would go round marking house's with nice cars and create a list of addresses which they'd sell to professional car theifs or something along those lines.
So I got some sandpaper out and rubbed it off sharpish and now have to make sure the Clio is parked behind the BMW every night
