Now we are living in these turbulant times of drought and water restrictions <sigh> I've decided to get a water-butt which I have successfully plumbed in (and got all excited over my watery spoils after last nights down-pour).

Has anyone here used a their water butt to run their pressure washer? If so what were the results? I've got an inline filter to strain out the lumpy bits and I assume using rain water would hopefully mean less lime/water marks (as we live in a hard water area).

Yes mate we have at home, to begin with we had a massive reel of hose which took forever to get te water to the pressure washer! Now got a hose cut to size and it works ok!!

Pressure washer sometimes throws a wobbly as there is hardly any pressure from the water butt compared to a tap. It works as well as you need it to and 10 times better than using watering cans etc

I've deliberately put it as close to the front of the house as possible so it doesnt need a long length of hose to allow me to reach the cars on the drive

I've noticed people sell algae treatment, have you ever bothered with this?

Should be fine when it says it's designed for it.

On that note, my outside tap is terrible, I was worried the pressure washer wouldn't work, it works fine. One of the karcher's with water butt hose.

Also if you’re in an affected area, did you know all Karcher High Pressure Washers can run off a water butt. Simply attach a garden hose to the water butt tap and start using 100% harvested water.

I thought a hose pipe ban was a ban on hose pipes no matter what water they use.
The lady next door would know I'm running it off a water but and soon drop me in it

How could they possibly ban you using a physical hosepipe altogether?

No one has been fined yet, but a possible £1,000 fine and they already conveniently have my bank details

Plus water-butt = FREE water.

Does the butt need to be close to where you are going to be using the pressure washer? It's about 10m from the house down the garden to where the cars are parked.

For a guy with 10k+ worth of rolexs, a bit of water to wash a car is surely affordable

No hosepipe ban here

Use some solid plastic pipe and pushfits to your pressure washer.

Cant get a hosepipe ban if your not using your hosepipe

H'apparenlty its not a ban on the hose pipe its a ban on using mains-supplied water for specific tasks.

"A hosepipe ban remains in place for all domestic customers who take their water supply from Anglian Water"

Rain water from the butt is fine
