I'm mixing things up a bit this year, usually July is always our day at the seaside in Llandudno but I've also been thinking about our postponed Lakes meet, obviously July is the last meet before the kids' summer holidays so I think it'll be better to have the Lakes meet in July to avoid the increased traffic in August, leaving us with August for the Llandudno day out.
So that's 2 months with what should be 2 big meets so, July, great outdoors, amazing scenery, fantastic roads and great weather (I've booked it ), not forgetting cake and of course, banter
The plan
An earlier meet up than usual, followed by a drive, probably a couple of stops for photo opportunities if people want too, then aim for the pub for the usual time.
The meeting point
Little Chef - Penrith
A66, Redhills,
Penrith,
Cumbria,
CA11 0DT
The route
Starting from Little Chef we're heading for the Whinlatter Pass then onto the truly stunning Honister Pass and finally heading down to the pub in Kendal via Ambleside and Windermere.
The route is the same as last year, which had great reviews so I can guarantee it's a nice run for those that couldn't make it last time.
Route Map
The Pub
The Punch Bowl
Barrows Green
Stainton (A65)
Kendal
Cumbria
LA8 0AA
http://www.pub-explorer.com/cumbria/pub/punchbowlkendal.htm
Date and Times
The meet will be on 1st July. We will be meeting at the Little Chef from 12.15pm to leave at 1.00pm (to give chance for people to get some food if they want too). Obviously if you're planning to eat at the Little Chef make sure you arrive in good time so you're not holding people up/getting left behind. Leaving Little Chef at 1.00pm should give plenty of time for the drive and photo stops before getting to the pub at 4pm.
If anyone can't make the drive then feel free to meet us at the pub after where you'll be able to hear all about our day and eat cake
I look forward to seeing you all there
ps. Last year's trip, just to wet your appetite

I was ready for putting the Llandudno thread then remembered about this, if it didn't get done in July it'd end up not getting done at all and we can't be having that. Can't wait to drive the Honister pass again
Nice one Nic

Damn.. i'll be at donington on the first :'(
Hope you get a decent turn out. a warning to any 12 valve drivers. Mike will probably leave you behind.
if you do manage to make it into the honister pass, scout the route for buses before trying to make your way back out

Lesson learnt on that one, derv power was quicker than I expected, I thought you'd be able to keep up. Tbf though it was only on dual carriageways, I didn't leave you anywhere that would have meant losing you

I just have an image of you bieng forced back into the seat shouting "POWWWER" in a Jeremy Clarkson-esque manner whilst i was trying desperately to overtake the widest jaguar in the world on the shortest and narrowest stretch of duel carrageway in the country.
Proper fun day though. Just gutted i'll miss this one

I'd forgot about that mad narrow dual carriageway, it was weird that.
Not long left now, can't wait
