Finally took the plunge and hired a pro detailer to carry out paint correction on my 330ci
As you know I usually detail my own cars but was not brave (read foolish) enough to dive in and attempt proper correction.
So after some research I decided to hire Stu from Vehicle Detailing services based in Norwich
http://www.vdservices.co.uk/
Stu was fairly shocked at the condition of the paint once it had been stripped back. I was surprised myself how bad it was when he sent me a couple of 50/50 shots. The poorboys blackhole and been doing a excellent job of masking most of the defects as I have always had comments on how good the paint is
Anyway on with the Pics
As dropped off :

Compulsory snow foam shots :

Had not really done anything with it for a while so some contamination :

Paint depth readings just to annoy the haters :

So this panel has had a bit of paint then at some point!

50/50 on bootlid

Before shot of drivers door

After shot of drivers door

This was not meant to included as part of the detail but being the dude he is Stu gave the bay a quick go over

work in progress shot

A few arty after shots

Highly reccomend Stu for anyone in the Norfolk/Suffolk area
Parts have started arriving for the suspension refresh, just waiting on coilovers and the Style 32 E38 wheels to arrive and they will be off for powder coating.

Looks like some cracking results there!
I am in two minds what to do with mine. I bought the polisher etc but tempted to sell it and put the money towards a proper detail with the mindset of keeping on top of it!
I assume this cost about £250?

Looks good - have you done something aftermarket to the grille? Looks a bit weird.

It's a genuine BMW part.
It exactly matches the shadowline trim on the side of the car and mirrors.the old one was the only 'chrome' part on the car and has never looked right to me, looks ok on an SE imo.

Front bumper, lower bonnet is stone chipped to buggery but it has done 128k
Only problem with paint correction is that it reveals EVERYTHING and takes off any areas that had a pikey touch up pen application.

Polish and pads were 3M fast cut, Menzerna 203, 3M & lake country pads.
Wax was Valentine & Co Concours.

Much more lively now, nice work.
It is surprising just how much a glaze or filler based polish can mask tbh - yours was a prime example by the looks of it

LOL yes it was and it was wet when I got there. I think the poor bloke had a shock once he started. I have a lot more pics that shows how shocking the swirls were in places. Lifetime of retard washing, you know the drill I guess

Your fuel flap looks wonky! How old are you? I nearly bought a 330 ci 3 years ago when I was 27 but the insurance was expensive. Group 17 iirc. I had a clean license and 9 years no claims at the time. Put me off for life.

That is the standard 18" MV2 alloy wheel for a facelift M Sport.
19`s only available as a manufacturer upgrade on the M3
Detailing thread and comments on wonky fuel flaps and OEM M Sport wheels being too small

I got a quote on one of these the other day after borrowing my brothers 330 M sport for the weekend, im 26 with 3 years ncb and clean licence, only £800, didn't think it was all that bad tbh, what put me off was the stupid amount fo fuel i used. did a fair few miles so cant really complain but that was enough.

Detailing thread. With poor attention to detail. You've sorted many wonky flaps out before so crack on mate.
