I have one of those mates who is hugely annoying in that he can pretty much afford anything that takes his fancy (within reason). I posted pics of his MEV Rocket kit car a few weeks back and his '76 crew cab, on top of this he's got the hovercraft with me that we're currently building, 3 planes, numerous other toys but he gets bored easily and moves on to the next thing.

That next thing is this, only because he was getting bored waiting for his rocket to come back from Road, Track, Race:

I've been to a photoshoot with my mate, who had their speedster in a classic car mag. Looked lovely, had white wall tyres, and was absolutely showroom condition.

What do they sell for Rich? About 20k?

Uses the exact beetle chassis iirc.

wasn't going to say and see how long it took but Alex ruined it!! Its in awesome nick, he doesn't look after anything he owns (see the pics of the workshop in my Hovercraft thread) but with this, he's cleaned it and polished it and it doesn't go out in the rain.

no one has guessed its a rep yet; all badges, clocks and the steering wheel are genuine and worth a small fortune

yeah, its not like a F355 MR2 kit in fairness as most people have seen and heard an original F355 as well so have the comparison. This actually sounds as good as it looks; probably the only replica I'd drive/own

My neighbor has a 356 speedster as a resto project. Slow work. Will be great when it is done though. It's even has a bullet hole at the moment.

They are such a fantastic shape.

Yeah, it went there for final wire and to ensure everything was done so it passed IVA first time and it's sat there for about 2 months now

Saw one similar to that in Bewdley (Worcestershire) a few weeks ago, thought it was an original until my other half told me it was just a replica.

Looked in amazing nick though!

Hmm just checked on the Ask MID website and it came up as "DMY 508A - PORSCHE 356 B".

If that is an original from 1962/1963 then that one must be worth a fortune! This car was completely immaculate inside and out - it literally looked brand new.

I guess she probably thought it was a replica as she looked on Google/eBay and saw that most of them were replicas so came to that conclusion about the car above...
