Mates mrs wants to get him one for his birthday, she's asked me to help.

Now I know they are shit for the elite, you aren't allowed out of first gear, you only get half a lap, she would be better buying him a corsa and sending him somewhere etc but she wants to get him one.

Someone must have some good experiences, he is into Aston martins so probably one involving that. Any recommended companies, circuits etc?

I did one at York, think the company was 6th Gear. Was a good day, drove about 10 cars in total, V8 Vantage, DBS, 360CS, 599, R8, 911 turbo, Atom, couple of Lambos and another that I can't remember. How you got to drive it depended on the instructor, some were a bit boring, especially the Atom which was annoying but the 911 guy was really encouraging me to cane it.

If I was to book one for myself I'd prefer a proper circuit rather than a coned off airfield like York though.

I've heard that Everyman is a decent company ie actually letting you drive the cars!

I did mine through Silverstone and it was decent. Bounced off the limiter in a 355 as the instructor kept telling me to go faster.

Aye, I thought they would be proper pansies but they let you give it a good rag. Made the 360 twitch a little coming out of a corner and he was like "right, if we're going to go fast, you're going to do it properly without sliding" and let me have a few extra laps till i nailed it without sliding it

Cheapness! £1.20 per extra mile is not too bad either.

i done both a ferrari f430 scuderia and aston martin one at thruxton.

the aston was kind of boring tbh, but felt amazing sitting in such luxury.

the ferrari was the most amazing experience of my life, and i'll never forget the noise, the acceleration, the lightening quick flappy paddle gear changes, the carbon fibre EVERYWHERE.

aamazing.

Worst thing about driving expereinces is that you are at the mercy of the weather. If its wet, you might as well be in a Fiesta.

mine was wet.

they test you out in a porsche cayman first (well they did on mine) so they know how you drive like before you get unleashed on the big power cars.

I did M3 and single seater at Oulton in torrential rain. It was great, but also gutting because it was so wet. Really would have liked to have driven both in dry. Couldn't push either hard.

I'd even waited from my birthday in October until the following June to try and guarentee a dry day and sods law it was a monsoon.

3 people went off in the single seaters and one was in a big way backwards into the tyres.

They obviously hadn't a clue as i'd never been on track before, but was still overtaking people constantly and managed to keep it on the black stuff.

Cheers for all the links and shit, will have a proper look at them all later.

I've seen some classic cars ones so driving a new Aston and an old Aston db 4/5/6 would be right up his street if a company does one of them.

i done one nearly 3 years ago in stafford, i drove a ferrari, audi r8, and evo and an subaru, the evo and subaru you can drive them hard because there not worth as much the instructuer didnt tell you when you change gear in them ones i was hitting the limiter in second gear when i was in the subaru. What some people dont relise is its an experiance so you dont always get to drive them hard. altho the man said to me when i was in the audi r8 if your not stupid ill let you drop it down into 2nd on this corner and boot it and the accleration was amazing.

the stafford track isnt that big but i enjoyed it, you get to about 90 on the biggest straight but i liked it

my girlfriends dad won a driving day on our local radio station hes going in august im probably going back there

heres the website

I've done one at Croft...

Cooper S / Ginetta / Porka / Ferrari

Also done a BMW one at Oulton Park, drove everything from Mini to 750Li

They used the palmer sport M3 GT, was a great day.

I wouldnt always go for the supercar, get a better / longer experience in less exotic cars.

Palmer Motorsport Day

M3 GT / Caterham / Atom 3 amazing cars to drive, won't be cheap mind!
