age old question, but which in your opinion is better?
sheer power or handling (this includes brakes), im sure i have seen a video where they show just what a difference handling mods make on a standard car around a track and it was quite substantial.
but which do you prefer?
take ak & fee for example, scooby can catch/go past the skyline in the corners however the straights come and its the skyline that pulls away.
now obiously a balance of both is best however if you could only have one which would you prefer? (not just track specific either, includes on a road car).

I'd rather have a car that handled. Much more fun.

most crashes on the roads are from people thinking their car handles well. like the 2 crashes into hedges near me this weekend. handling on a road car is dangerous. as it leads to death. going fast forwards on a straight road doesn't. facts and figures prove this.

Can't decide between them tbh. I used to have a car that could out-handle a Porsche, now I have a car that can out accelerate a Porsche...both are awesome in different ways! Within a budget though it's hard to have both.

simply - both!
I can keep up with most things on corners... but get left behind on the straights
I dont think my car handles better than the Skyline as such..... i'd just say I push it harder on track

Gotta be handling for me. Realised this after owning 2 years of owning an Astra VXR, really don't get to open it up that often.

who said it was......
BUT actually it is...
If you have a 'potentially' good handling car on crap tyres with no grip its no longer good at handling. Decent tyres on a crap handling car can improve its handling by a large margin.
So.... handling is pretty much linked to grip
I'm not talking about 4wd/rwd here.... a properly setup RWD car with a decent chassis will be better handling than a 4wd car

Having grip is essential to go fast, it's not always the most rewarding or fun.
Hence the GT86 having Prius skinny tyres and not millions of bhp as its more "fun" and lets you explore the chassis and the feedback it gives. Thus it handles well.
I know what you are saying, it is deffo linked. But people saying I "outhandled" this or that is none sense. Your car had more grip than the other car, doesn't mean it handled better.

to me handling is the ability of a car to stop/slowdown, turn in, hold corner speed and exit a corner WELL regardless of how much feedback it gives or how much 'fun' it is.
An old mustang will be fun to drive, but you'd never say it handled well

I agree. I've got a DC2 and it handles really well, but you have to push it really hard on the road to find the limits, and I know if I cock up, I'm fucked.
I'd rather have something with a fair bit of power, and you can find the limits at lower speeds, like a Corsa not the best handling car, but it doesn't take much to make it slide. Which is great fun.

Yeh that's my view on handling too.
I'm one that prefers handling too, especially on a road car as you very rarely get to use the power its one of the many reasons why I sold the zed, it's nice to have power but rarely get chance to use it with all the cameras/traffic, so I would much rather go down the handling route (he says as he is considering getting a map )

there is no point in having a car that handles but has no power. its a complete waste of time. like ak said, power is more fun. a lot more fun.

Curious to see whether people that have opted for handling, have experienced power?

It really depends, road, track, drag strip.
would be pointless to have a road car with tons of power that didn't handle and would be pointless to have a drag car with the best handling that had hardly any power.
but given the option of, all power and no handling or no power and great handling I would go for the all power.

Easy, handling.
Power is boring, handling is fun
