Have a megane in at the moment for a Cambelt and water pump change. Remapped and a cat back exhaust, eibach springs.

What an awesome road car! Focus st, VXR etc don't even seem to come close after driving one of these on the road, always heard all the hype they are a good package but I'm seriously seriously impressed!

Anybody else experienced one? I'd have one in a heartbeat.

Thoughts....

Never been in one. Heard lots of good things about the handling. The R had the diff. People say its a must on the megane.

Ugly as shit, but they seem to be a good all round package

I am biased as I use to have a F1, but i agree. Went in a mates Focus ST other day (he loves his car so much) and I just didnt have the heart to tell him it was so boring. In the megane you feel planted, with the seats giving you the extra support aswell. This just wasnt the case in the focus.

I will give the ST its due though, they make a awesome noise. I thought it was more of a 'sporty' family car due to its softness and loads of room.

in regards to VXR - I think a massive problem is them stupid 19's. Ive drivin them alot (and hard) and i felt they would be ok then all of a sudden get twitchy so you never know how hard to actually push it. Really nice day to day drive though.

It is to be expected unfortunaltey. I have seen several vids on a friends phone of a varity of Ferrari's being hammerd around the nottingham/liestershire country side.

I also took my megane for an MOT once and it come back with a few miles on the clock. He then says it goes better than my Civic type R and thought it was acceptable to do it

I had my scooby in a place once for some work and when I collected it the guy said "Tommy really likes it, says it's rapid, said to tell you to let him know when you're selling it"

Any time now, if it's a performance car, I make a point of telling them I don't want it hammering round and note down the mileage when I leave it.

THIS

They can't fucking help themselves when they get a performance car in for some work. Makes a refreshing change to Mondeo 1.8 lx so they cant help but 'drive' it.

Had Hunter alignment done on my last scoob and he had to go round the industrial estate (30 mph limit) to make sure all was ok. I heard him go to the top of the rev range in 3rd whilst I was waiting and he came back going "fuck me it goes doesnt it?"

The bit that annoys me is that we look after them, warm them up properly, etc and you can bet your ass they didn't before smoking it around. I don't go to the effort of driving it like a saint when it's cold for some smelly shit cunt to go thundering it around the block.

For me:

Power vs Handling = handling

Looks vs Handling = looks
