thinking of getting something similar to this on my arm http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jLGyBoPa6zk/TM6aElnd7tI/AAAAAAAAAug/gkLL_hp7sWI/s1600/Japanese+Phoenix+Tattoo31.jpg
but with the tail feathers wrapped round my arm from the elbow stopping at 3/4. now im deciding on colour, thinking about staying with orange red and yellow in the body and adding some colour like greens blues etc to the tail feathers. background will be typical sleeve filler in black and grey.
ive had the phoenix in mind for a couple of years and ive been getting an old one on my arm lasered but found a guy who said hed cover it no problem with what ive just described, where most have been saying a coverup will look shit and i need to get mine removed first. so ive pretty much decided to go ahead with it, go down and get a drawing. its tattoo boutique on bold street in liverpool if anyone knows it?
so, any opinions criticisms or further ideas?

i thought it may look girly because the example ive given is on a girl? though im not too fussed, it is a phoenix at the end of the day thats probably what ill face with any bird design.

not goin all the way, still want to be able to cover up when i wear a suit and a full sleeve will be visible as soon as a put an arm forward for a handshake.
i know its a shit reason, but i dont want a tattoo to hold me back in future

I don't think it's a girly tattoo, I think the fact the girl in the image is wearing french knickers makes you think it's feminine, but looking at the tattoo alone, it's not feminine.
That's all my input, I don't have any tattoos so I can't give positive/negative advice about them.

This would worry me. One guy disagreeing might be because he's better or it might be because he has less sense of quality and will settle for a worse outcome than others.
Regarding the design, I think the phoenix is cool and has potential for good use of details and colours. Also has potential to be a mess that's impossible to see what is.
Of the pictures above the first looks like a dragon, second is an eagle, third has a turkey head and fourth looks fantastic.
