got a sportex 3" backbox on with a straight pipe. when i put my foot down my exhaust gets proper rasp, think i prefer a deep tone than rasp sound. does your corsa b do the same?

I've heard a lot like that.

Mine is quite deep with barely any rasp with the Ashley system it has and it's an XE so not sure how much that changes it

Raspy at around 3000-400rpm just deep before and after that. It seems to be raspier when its cold and lose its raspiness (dictionary ) as it gets warmer.

it's not just mine then. yeah i think i would prefer to have a deep tone at high revs than it being rasp. but it still sounds nice either way.

My 1.2 was raspy with a straight through centre and tiny back box, not sure about my 1.6, I've never heard it properly, I've always got a helmet on when I'm driving it

Out here in the middle of nowhere - as it seems alot of people have never even heard of Lincoln - there arent many places to choose from when it comes to things like custom exhausts, however we do have a Powerflow dealership just outside the city called Custom Performance.

I have had 6 systems from them now, on 6 different cars over about 11 years of modifying cars, I have had this issue with at least 4 out of the 6 systems, on cars from a 1.6 8V Astra, to a V6 Mondeo, Redtop Astra van and even a Scooby.

Getting the exhaust to sound right was always trial and error, it was a case of start with no boxes and a straight through pipe and then add more to tone it down. Same box was used every time, no matter what the car/engine, it was a JAP middle box!! Cured the rasp and always gave the cars a deep, throaty sound

how you recon it would sound on a 1.0 if i fit a racetube but kept the standard back box? dont want a exhaust tip stuck out the back of my car and just thought of this now

I haven't a clue mate, it sounds a bit daft doing it that way, because if you still have the cat, your restricting it as it comes off the manifold, then opening it up after the cat, then restricting it again when it hits the standard backbox, seems pointless putting the race tube on, if you still have a box with baffels at the end of it?

Im not 100% sure on this thou Gav, im more of a styling person than machanical

im not wanting a stupidly loud wasp in a tin can sound though. dont really need a decat on a 1.0.
i just dont want an exhaust on show but wouldnt mind it sounding better.
you cant see the exhaust on my car as ive had it pulled up out the way

I'd say that'd work Gav, if you aren't after power gains (which I assume you wouldnt be) Then missing a silencer will make it louder
