Place local to me is the same,
Used to swim there every weekend in the summer,
I'm not dead and can't remember being ill,
Might give the kids immune system abit of balls unlike the weedy sickly children they seem to be these days.

I've swam in it didn't do me any harm. There looks to be a lot more rubbish than there used to be though.

we used to swim in the thames all the time when we was younger, there was always umbrellas and trolleys and what not where we went swimming, and rumours people had put "umbrella poles" into the ground to stop you jumping into the river, never stopped us though and was probably full of shit and rats piss etc.

These are some photos we took this time last year and it doesn't/didn't seem to be anywhere near as littered as it is now. Chavs have found it obviously

Must be pretty deep if it contains car wrecks.

"Maybe people wouldn't swim in it if it wasn't called 'The Blue Lagoon' - maybe it should be renamed 'The Stagnant Lake of Death'"

I can't remember ever seeing the signs either and comparing my photos with the Mail's, I do wonder if there has been some artistic licensing or additional littering. My pics are 12months old max
