I've sworn I would never have another black car. I hate the fact that it looks dirty after just a few drops of rain. Slight scratches light up like neons and in the winter it's constantly a muddy greyish brown.

Now, at the verge of buying an anthracite car, we've been offered the exact same model, slightly less milage and 3.000£ cheaper. But it's fucking black.

Now, there's two ways of turning this:

1) Buying the grey car is essentially paying 3k for the colour. Idiocy.

2) We're already getting a 3k saving on the grey one and we're by no means stretching our budget so saving an additional 3k will only result in spending 17k on a car I don't like looking at. If the black hadn't come along, we would have more than gladly payed the price.

People who have (had) black cars, please tell me you hate the maintenance and that it's frustrating having a car, that only looks good the first two hours after a wash!

black cars are no different to any other colour.

everyone always says about one colour always shows up dirt worse, but it doesn't.

i've had 2 white cars and not had an issue.

just wash them routinely and use quick detailers inbetween washes.

Owned 3 black cars now and regretted it every time.

That said they were all fairly cheap to buy so if i were to spend that kinda money on a new car i'd want it exactly perfect otherwise the level of regret would be huge!

That is my biggest concern. That I'll be spending a lot of money on car I'm never 100% happy with.

I already feel the car we are getting is a bit of a compromise, but it fits the bill.

Getting it in a colour I detest will feel pretty lame.

Wife suggested we get the black, spend 2k to repaint it and pocket the 1k.

Ive only had 2 cars.
1 black and 1 white. Both fucking useless colours.
Black only looked decent when it was clean...and that lasted about 3 miles.

No point spending loads on a car to only think you bought it because it was cheaper due to the colour.

Wait!

€3,000 is out of context here. Are we talking F458 or Fiesta here?

Get the black car and spend the extra £3,000 in fuel driving it = less time spent staring at it thinking "fucking hell it's dirty again"

Yeah, sorry. We're talking Honda CR-Z.

Numbers below are roughly converted to GBP.

Over here it's 31.5k new, currently on offer for 25k and we can get one through the dealer my wife's at for 20k (6 months old).
Honda have one they've used to showcase for motor journalist etc. As an employee at a dealership, she can get that for 17k.
We're already saving loads on the grey one and our budget to begin with was 25k, so we're not stretching it.

I'm really just trying to justify that I've more or less made my choice I think...

I can see your point, I've ended up with another grey car after saying 'never again' but it's a lot of money to save!

I've had black and grey cars before and they get dirty just as quick as my satin red car does now.

100% agree with this. I'm on my 2nd black car now and every single mark shows up like a sore thumb. It's even worse when you polish it. I've had a lot of different colour cars and black it's deffo the worse.
