I'm thinking about doing this. I have an iPad. I would buy the iPad keyboard and a cable to connect it to my monitor.
All I really use my PC for is the internet anyway. Occasionally I type documents, but this is quite rare.
Anyone done something similar?

James I want to be one of first people to congratulate you on being a gay fag.
Going PC free is mental, how will you pirate shit and do more than one thing at a time? PC (be it laptop, desktop or workstation) smashes the fuck out of a tablet. Are you gay?
I couldn't even deal with just a laptop, I have to have a proper rig or it just aint right

Hmmm, maybe you are right. I didn't think about torrents, or multi-tasking for that matter.
I was going to get an iMac, maybe I should just do that

Hmm - it's £699 for a decent Mac Mini. For £999 I could get an iMac with a much better spec and the luxury of a keyboard, mouse and monitor included....

Apple making you believe a keyboard is a luxury lol.
We've got some teachers at work Giving their laptops back and going completely iPad I think it's an awful idea. Using apps to access their gbs of documents on the server, opening it, editing it, attaching it to an email back to themselves and then using a computer to save it back to their documents. Loads of horrible work around for stuff that they should just be using their laptop for. All a stunt to make it look like we are futuristic.

Yeah, there are so many things an iPad can't do. Stick with an iMac or MacBook Pro

I've yet to turn my PC on since getting my iPad, but in fairness that's only been 1 week. It won't stay that way, need at least a laptop IMO.

I was the same. Give it three months and you're hardly ever turning your iPad on.

I use my iPad every day TBH, mostly for web browsing, email, Facebook etc. but I use my MacBook Pro for work mainly (and the fact that it's connected up to a 22" LED when I'm here lol)
I don't think a tablet will ever be a substitute for a 'proper' computer.

IMO TBH it entirely depends on what you do on a computer IMO TBH
I have a friend who sucks dicks through garden hoses for his ipad, he uses it for everything and you could easily throw his laptop in a river and he wouldnt notice because all he is ever doing is playing them FAGGOTRY games (I really dislike games on the ipad and anyone who thinks they are comparable to a console/PC - yes I've heard this from a few people ) or email, facebook, internetz or his latest faggot app of the week.

Well I have a TF101 thing by Asus which is nice, but hardly gets used.
EVERY TIME I get on an ipad the thing just works and it is lovely in comparison with my tablet, I can understand why people wank over them so much. I've used a couple at work when the directors brought them in, my mum has one, my best mate has one but I just couldnt lump over the money for one. Happy to take gifts
Its the whole apple thing, the feeling that you can't fully own the device and use it for your own purpose, basically apple are licencing it to you. ALL STINKS OF FAGGOTRY. Oh and the price did I mention the price?

It was more the monitor that I was talking about, but my keyboard is knackered anyway so I need to buy a new one. I know they are generally cheap but I would have to get an Apple one to complete my fanboy status.

Yeah sleek design and function comes at a (big) price with Apple I'm afraid.
I do wonder when the Apple "bubble" will burst though.

Surely a monitor would be of more use than a very large LED?

First time you want to do something complicated, like plug a usb drive in, you'll need a PC.
