more confident in your braking if you've got better feel, spongy brakes don't exactly inspire you to push your car.

I know a lad with a Nova 2.0l Turbo and he has the 16v brakes on and he says they're plenty but obviously the V6 brakes have stronger calipers and bigger discs so are going to stop you quicker.
I'm defiantly going for the V6 brakes when I get my Corsa.
Brand new the V6 brakes are £200 and the 16v brakes are £140, I think you'll agree that an extra £60 isn't a great deal if you consider the bigger brakes have a greater chance at saving your life one day.
Plus! big ass brakes look the nuts!

only problem with the v6/turbo brakes is that they are so good you can lock the front wheels up at over 100mph, now that is bloody scary.

Yeah i was lookin at the new V-tuning site as well 
and its easyer to lock up the V6 brakes cos the pedal feels dead spongy yes ?

no, becasue they are designed for a big car with abs, lol
got some myself though 288mm dics, not on yet though.

surely with better brakes you will just lock up easier??? especially in the wet!!!
wat about 2litre 16v brakes (from a astra gte 16v etc) on a corsa?
will they lock up easy?

i got some 2ltr 16v calibra brakes on mine cost me 15 pound from scrappy there plenty good enough

wat about the very big brake kit from winner pro, 2 peice discs, 8 pot calipers,brackets but £1000.
will these lock up easily if u dont have abs?

You can lock up the brakes with most setups - it's down to personal driving ability. If you immediately stamp on the brake pedal when you come to a hazard then you should rethink your driving style, not downgrade to a smaller set of discs and calipers.

V6 do stop well, but not as amazingly as i thouhgt they might do.
Fedal feel is spongy, but they do look good!

A compromise is 16v calipers with V6 disks and spacer brackets - what Ill be using.

GOt V6 brakes on mine, really impressed with the braking power, but a very long travel with pedal so its hard to judge how much pressure u need for lighter braking but u learn and it gets better as u get used to them. I have slammed my brakes at 90 and they didnt lock I agree with joff tho, u dont just jump 2 feet onto middle pedal and hope for the best.
Only downside wit hv6 brakes is they weigh a ton, thus adding to your unsprung weight.
If ive got the moeny im gunna get 4 pots!

all brakes stop well if you now how to use them properly.
lets face it, if you press the pedal as hard as you can they will lock up, regardless of caliper and disc size

Remember, tyre choice will effect braking aswell, cheep tyres will skid far easier than good quality tyres.

Also got V6 ones on mine, ran them for a month with standard hoses & yes there was alot of pedal play & slightly spongy.
fitted braided hoses all round, new rear brake-shoes & bleeded the system, couldn't fault them after that!

I've got 2.0 16v calipers and the big disc upgrade so 285mm and they're the best mod I've done.
