that's what I am thinking. Although I do love the simplicity of the iPhone. I think I was a bit put off Android as I was a very early adopter! G1 and HTC Magic (G2)

I'm very tempted to get one, unless a review comes out saying it's crap I will be.
Because the OS and the phone are as one in this case, straight from google, the OS is a major selling point.

Same, only thing putting me off is no physical home button and thickness after having iPhone 5 and S3, thicker than iPhone 4, which makes a difference when it's got a massive screen

I'm due an upgrade from orange now but think I will be sodding them off, buying this phone direct from google for £279 and getting a giffgaff sim. 02 have first month exclusivity and it is free on £36 a month 24 month deals. Clueless

I was looking at these as I'm out of contract in about 6 months.
I wouldn't listen to any Engadget review though - they're so Apple bias. As someone already said, why review the OS when it's the phone that's new?

Wouldn't worry about LTE for at least a year anyway, especially with the plan prices and coverage.

Glasgow LTE coverage has a big blackspot where I live, that and it's expensive for even a useless amount of data as you've said.

It's not really wireless charging since you still need a wire to the wall and you still need to 'connect' your phone to said wired device.
ps. Good luck carrying the charging orb round with you

No, that's not what I said.
To wirelessly airplay my iPad to my TV I don't need to go over and sit my iPad on my Apple TV
To sit here and browse the interent wirelessly on my laptop I don't need to go over and sit it on the router.
I think you get my point.
I think it's great Google are putting the tech in their products to try and get it off the ground even if it is at the sacrifice of making the device thicker to house the coil, as ultimately it will mean it starts to become more widely, publicly available (actually useful) and may even evolve into a truly wireless solution.

I don't see the big deal with inductive charging, as said its much easier to carry a charger around than a massive pad. I can see it being massively inefficient compared to a cable as well.
I suppose the only useful situation (in my eyes) that I can think of was if it was in restaurants, bars, etc, so you can just bang your phone on the side.

It'll never evolve into a 'truly' wireless solution because of physics - you can only send electricity so far through the air without incurring massive losses.
Poor enough efficiency as it is, never mind if you double/triple the distance.
On the other hand, I like the idea of being able to put down the phone onto a mat and it charges up without plugging in a cable, proper handy even if it is stuck to one spot. Its quick.

It will be truly wireless, it'll eventually be built into the fabric of buildings, not there yet though.

Presumably this can still be charged through micro USB too though right? (ie for charging in the van etc)
Also tried to find a definitive answer, but failed so far - is it going to take a micro SIM?
