As title really, whats the best way of checking if a company name is already registered, or a brand with that name already copyrighted etc?

Where are the borderlines with the law? if someone just has a website called something, for them to have exclusive rights over the name do they need to have it registered etc?

Copyright is an automatic right for anything you produce, you don't register for it.

Ok, but whatabout if I wanted to brand something with a name, but there is already a website with that name, but unrelated to the type of product im making? is that allowed?

Is there a website that allows you to search for all registered companies by name?

If it came down to it and they could prove they owned the brand before you. You can be asked to shut down iirc.

All depends if your doing it through your own company or not as 100 people could have the same name of the business if try are self employed.

I think you mean you want to patent the idea so people can't copy it etc.

You cant re register a company I don't think. But I think you can be 'steve106gti trading as dronetec' on your invoices as far as I'm aware. No point in making a ltd company.

You can re-register a dissolved company name, obviously you're issued a new company number and there are no connections to previous company apart from the name. Reputation of name could be an issue though.
Otherwise a trading name, as mentioned, is another solution.

You also want to check the designs and source-code that you're planning to use and sell and what license they were released under as a lot of open-source is free to use but not to sell or re-distribute; obviously this could seriously 'piss on your bonfire' as it were.

Edit - If the creators don't have a problem then make sure you get it in writing.

for the actual drone too? £450ish if you want the mega 2mile range stuff

about £400 for the 1000-1500 foot version, that obviously includes the actual drone
