Alright guys

Come accross this beast

http://www.trade-away.com/used-cars/skoda-octavia-2-0t-fsi-vrs-5dr-northampton-201247493055986

190,000 though. It has been looked after, serviced, and only has one owner from new.
For the price you think that's a bargain, or a disaster waiting to happen?

Did you post about thsi on briskoda.net?

I'd say diesel would be worth a punt, but petrol a bit of a risk.

I'd say spend £5k (if you can) and get a much better car? (lower miles etc)

Its worth what youre willing to pay for it. If you want it, try knock off £500 and buy it.

Its still got moon miles regardless.

Yes I suppose. And it's only going to break sometime soon.

I'll go for the older one then

It's a cracking motor to be fair.
Just not sure on the reliability for any car over 190,000 to be honest. Although it's only 5 years old.

surely its potentially false economy though, the engine has done that many miles and surely its prone to break or go at some point?

cheap but too much of a high risk imo.

Might not be to bad if you can work out whats already been replaced in the 190K by the history it has. I would have thought a lot of major things would have been done atleast once

Wouldn't go near unless it was a lot cheaper.

Imagine trying to sell it on.

Yes I suppose.
It's probably sound, been looked after and is fully serviced. But if I wanted rid i'd have to sell it for next to nothing because of the high miles.

It's a shame really as it's a really nice motor.

You are trying to shoehorn in the best possible car you can for your money rather than looking at what is out there that is decent for your budget.

For that sort of money I would be looking at the previous shape, a bit older and with significantly less miles.

Ive drove a diesel one before and was great. There owned by VW now arnt they? so reliability shoildnt be an issue even touching 200k. should do another 200k if looked after.
That one looks very clean.

I'd be keeping it yes. Just unsure as the mileage is putting me off now. Would of been a business car, I wouldn't of thought it'd of been thrashed tbh looks in good nick.

Does history not state that you probably won't end up keeping it that long?
