Amazing rebuild
BUT
After owning a CATD car it will always be a CATD car no matter how good it's repaired. It's always in the back of your mind. Never again.

Each to there own but stupid comment really. Working in a body shop I've seen cars repaired by insurance that are worse than some write offs.
Some cars could be Cat D needing a few bolt on panels, some cars could have had a full front/side/rear end etc and been repaired by insurance and sold one with no-one knowing what so ever.

And as I have said many times before. Just because it's a cat d car doesn't mean it's shit. If its done by cousin habeeb in his southall shed then yes it most likely is.
Cars are mostly written off due to money not the severity of damage.
But yeah it's now for sale

 CATD band wagon patrol
The difference with CATD on a M3 and a CATD on a corsa can sometimes be leagues apart.
You have to remember the cost of parts for an M3 is astronomical, certain sports cars / performance cars can be CATD just with the smallest of knocks that can be had in a car park.
Quite alot of S2000's are CATD as the part prices are crazy

People just think oh its a CATD has been in a bad smash and needed jigging and wont drive straight and bits will fall of, and I'm a gaybo

Are you forgetting that when all these bits cost more money to buy, the car probably cost more money to buy, hence the accident could be the equivalent of a corsa and be at the same % of value.

Well it's not a 'Stupid' comment really.
If you read what I said again it comes from my personal opinion. I wasn't slating cars that have been repaired. What I'm saying is it doesn't matter how good the repair is it will always be a CatD so will always be worth less and put off potential buyers. Now if there was away this M3 could be taken off the register due to the standard of work then that's a different story. If he's happy with it then fine, I wouldn't personally spend that kind of money on a CatD car.

I'm pretty sure I've seen it about. Think I might of even overtaken him on the A420 in my Transit, because he was holding me up one morning.  But he blasted past about 5 cars once it was warm, it does sound good.

I think Tom's response was more aimed at Corsa Nut. The resale value shouldn't matter providing you're getting it cheap in the first place. If you were conned into buying a written off car which got discovered/recorded during your ownership - it would be a different story.
I guess each case is different, but if I had a record and history of the repairs in depth (such as with this M3) - I'd take a punt, as it might mean owning a car I wouldn't ordinarily have bought.
