What are people wanting to do with their lives?
I was speaking to SkaterDave about this, also prompted by the 'Career' thread.
I personally want to finish Uni, get my degree, get a bit of cash behind me (I should by this point have a buy to let property) and go and work in different places.
For instance, I really want to do about 6 months in Canada. Have already checked for jobs and stuff and the work varies from working in Supermarkets/Home Depots helping people to working on ski resorts. All jobs you can pretty much walk in to with no experience (or experience I have). Can easily earn enough to survive and explore the area on, but whilst having the buy to let there if needs be.
Then I want to do about 6 months in America, not sure where yet, then back to the UK for 6 months maybe or 3 months inbetween, then off again.
Anyone else just not want to settle down, get to 45 and think they haven't done anything?
Btw, I am not saying settling down at something like 25 is wrong, just wondering if others don't want that and would rather see the world and not just be a smelly backpacker.

So I have my degree.
That way I can come back and earn money over here easier.
Plus in 4 years time or something I may not want to travel anywhere else, then get back in to my career.

Immediate plans:
Save the £8k needed to cover the depreciation on my house, and sell up.
Rent somewhere with an extra bedroom, driveway and garage whilst saving up for a deposit.
Buy a new house, 3 bed detached with double garage.
Make babies....
I'm happy with my job/career and it's going in the right direction. I've got a few savings schemes on the go which will come good in three years or so which is about when I'll be looking at buying another property... but i've got a fairly immediate requirement for more space so I'll be renting for the interim.

Is skaterdave related to DaveSkater?
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

I want to go and work in Australia for a year at some point. Couldn't be doing some random job though, would have to be something similar to what I do now.
Also want to get a BTL or holiday rental at some point.

The whole travelling and working abroad thing has never appealed to me.
I'm more of a homely type, so find a fella, get married in lapland, maybe kids. I'd love a family to look after.

Never made any sort of long term plans for my life...
Right now I'm doing what I want to. When I want to do something else I'll do that.

Got the rest of your life to travel places. It's called having a holiday! I like having money in my pocket too much to go work in a shit job in another country for 6 months just for the experience. Rather work my arse off and go there on holiday and live in an nice hotel and have plenty of money to spend for 2 weeks instead.

Why does it have to be a shit job? Because you don't like it?

Yeah I havent planned and set it in stone, but that is what I would like to do.
Next year work could offer me a massive pay rise and better work, and that may make me want to stay, but I doubt it

My plans have gone south.
So I have decided not to make plans and just do whatever, whenever.
