I have been trying to keep it at bay but realistically i'm at the best position im going to be in to get one. I have no children yet, i can walk to work from where i live so it seems logical that if im going to get one it might aswell be now.
Think im quite flexible with transmission as i have driven both and they individually have the pros and cons. Gonna wear the flame suit but i know that i want a convertible. All the lads at work commenting about how it ruins handling etc, none of which own an m3 btw lol.
Expect a new thread soon to include pictures of said purchased vehicle. Also somebody buy my 5 series please.

E36 is a bit wobbly, but a strutbrace an two polybushes sort that out.
My E46 was not at all wobbly, very refined and had the bonus of looking better, and being two cars in one.
IS yours Auto Colonel G?
Running costs arent for the faint hearted either.
Im addicted to them but keep telling myself this cash is better spent on something a bit more proper, but they have the advantage of being about the best all round package money can buy.

Mine is manual Jambo. Apart from fuel itself i imagine that servicing etc will not be far off what mine will cost me now in terms of inspections etc. Having looked into it it seems its going to be brakes and tyres that are the most expensive items to replace so i shall just hope to find one that has either had these done or just budget for it happening soon after purchase

Oil is £250 InspI Is £450 and InspII is £750
Those are independent prices.
Tyres are around £900 for four and brakes I think in recent years have come down a fair bit in price as fronts where around £600 to replace. Think thats a lot less now

DOnt get red on black because its not black its blue. Same colour as mine and unless the car is spotlessly clean it looks poo. Plus the red fades badly.
Tan/Cinnamon is far nice but was an individual option and rare. LSB is cool but an aquired taste.

Get one that's had inspII and brakes recently and you're laughing.
Silver ones are one of the cheapest.
If I got another I would go Estoril/Grey or Silver/grey with blue roof.
Or silver with LSB leather because I'm a cretin.

my budget is around 8k all in. i could go more but from what i have seen for sale and the time of year, i think i should be able to find something fairly decent for the money

I dont think you would get a decent coupe for £6k let alone a vert. £8k will get a good coupe but a rough vert... The cheap ones are cheap for a reason..

A lot of the vert's have actually been cheaper than the coupe's when I've been looking. Although admittedly only local, 8k seems to be the high mileage and/or oldest ones, still another couple of k asking price for anything that looks a bit better.
