had a little accident in the snow yesterday, damaged my alloy, have removed a small chunk of metal from the outer rim, tyre is undamaged from what i can see and nothing bent on the arms and suspension etc.

this should still be OK to drive on for a couple of days taking it easy shouldnt it? i have a new alloy ordered and will switch tyre over to new alloy next week but just want to make sure i should be ok going to and from work in the meantime, tyre has held its pressure overnight fine and i drove home 5 miles like this yesterday.

i would assume so aslong as you dont hit a pothole or anything to cause it too much stress.

Should be ok I'd have thought. Only a small bit. Like you say only for a couple of days.

I'd get wheel alignment done too though afterwards. To make sure.

Yeah easily. Seen rally cars with wheels hanging off or missing totally and they carry on without any issues.

Luckily its not as far as the head so it'll be fine. I done the same to my alloys on the old Corsa.

I bet it happened at slow speed and you knew it was gonna happen all in slow motion lol. It's gutting eh.

I bet if it that wheel was anything but a Rota, it would have held up fine lol.

maybe, although rota's are meant to be pretty good. i think the fact its quite a thin lip on the outside instead of a solid rim so its maybe more brittle, lesson learnt anyway.

a guy on the z4 forum done this to his ///M today, doing less than 10mph. i would've thought standard wheels were strong enough.

ouch makes me feel a bit better though. I was doing less then 5mph when I clipped it.

I wouldn't go thinking BMW wheels were the benchmark for strong wheels.

Not after it was on Watchdog about the thousands of wheels that were cracking for no reason.
