Is it true that a parent can claim child benefit, regardless of whether they are working or not?

I was just reading about this on that gov.uk website and it seems to suggest so?

Yes everyone is entitled to child benefit. Its £20 a week but paid monthly i think.

Your not given it weekly, your given £80/month per child.
So yes, if given £80 or £120 at the start of each month, it will normally buy a lot of nappies, baby powder, wipes and so forth.

Coming from someone who has to frequently spend £10 on baby powder a pop and £10 on nappies a pop, it does

Iirc it decreases per child so if you have 4 you don't get £320 etc.

Also now if one parent earns over a certain amount (£50k)? you are no longer entitled to it, but if both parents earn £49k each you are.

2nd child is £13. Sam think theres grants for boilers and lagging. Think its called warm start or something like that. For elderly and low income i think.

Not everyone is entitled to it nowadays.

My dad was pretty pissed off when he was told he earns too much to qualify for it.

Nice that, pay loads in tax and get nothing in return, yet dirty cunts on the social with 15 kids and never worked a day in their life get it all.

Because they changed the rules on it. With regards to earning.

Which I thought was sensible as if you're on 60k a year you don't need it, however can see Bens point of view as well.

If your on income support they class child benefit as an income therefore its deducted from any income support award
Tax credits its not, but to qualify for tax credits you hsve to be working
So bens point doesn't actually sound as harsh as it is

Warmfront would have give you a boiler if you had a young child in the house. I do alot of warmfront work. its 90% of my work. towards the end they were giving them out to anyone.

bit pissed off its finished tbh

Why? Because working people get fucked over and people who are on benefits for no proper reason don't?

Don't get me wrong, benefits are great for people like those in the army who lose limbs, those who have worked and lost jobs and those who need support to get back to work.

What I don't agree with is a 16 year old bird getting pregnant and getting paid to sit at home and care for it, by the government.

My cousin is an example of the above and it disgusts me.

I overheard a father(on benefits) having a rant about his daughter who has recently had a child at 17 about the difficulty in finding her a council house and the town she has to move to.

Had to bite my tongue and walk away because it wasn't going to change there free for all attitude.
