Bought a new car yesterday Potentially not in the best frame of mind to be car shopping (been travelling for 36hrs, landed in london at 5am, Aberdeen at 9am, drove to Edinburgh for neices birthday lunch then drove to Glasgow to look at car for 4pm) but the car was nice and the salesman wasnt a fanny, so job done
BMW X5 35d M Sport... some nice toys on it, along with sensible colours. Media pack, 20" by 11" wheels, Reverse camera, Panoramic sunroof thingy. Carbon Black, Nevada Black leather and anthracite head lining.

Never thought I'd be buying a BMW though. But it seemed a better option than the others at the time.

They just seem so boring and soulless like most other BMWs now.

Assumption here but the RR Had done 100k and the BMW won't have done.
Was the RRS a TDV8 AK?

Far nicer than a RRS IMO. Less footballers wife and more proper machine.
So much nicer inside!

old RRS was 2005 at had 101k on the clock. We did 50k of them in less than 3 years.
This is a late 58 with 30k on the clock.
RRS was a 2.7 TDV6, the BMW is a 3.0 twin turbo with 100bhp more and shit loads more torque.
Great for towing.
We'll plan to keep it for 2 years then maybe get an 11/12 SDV6 Rangey.
The BMW is nicer inside, feels more modern. Its a bit nicer to drive too, if a little louder and harsher.

that is a big + for me these days.
I was wanting to murder a guy at Specialst Cars VW a while back... trying to test drive a Toureg has never been such an experience. The 5mins in the showroom ended up with me getting up and leaving whilst telling him I didnt have time for his shit.
Up to that point we most fancied a Touareg!

it does 0-60 in under 7 secs and just short of 150mhp. 285bhp, 430lbft
WTF!
Fee can use it on track!
Anyone know how well these respond to a remap? A little extra torque would be lovely and any gains in MPG a bonus.

Ah i see, hadn't realised the RR had done that many miles. I'm so glad you siad that you're getting another RR soon. Looks alright, and the spec is decent but not something I'd get personally, each to their own.

its not def... but Fee would have liked a White TDV8 or SDV6... BUT all the ones we liked were out of our 30k price range. I dont want a pay over the odds for a car we will ultimatly use a lot.
A lot of the white ones seem to be modded quite badly too... Over colour coded, clown sized alloys etc.
There wasnt anything wrong with our RRS... just had it for a while and felt that if we kept it much longer we'd have to just keep it and run it into the ground
