Going in next week for a few hours on the sleeve and need to think of what to put on the inside of my arm. Full inside bicep is empty. Anyone any ideas what goes with a jap Phoenix? Don't need loads of detail just something nice and big that will fill the gap, won't be visible most of the time but i,don't just want wind bars and clouds, and the artists doesn't really wanna just fill it it's nothin either.

What about a fu dog or some peony details? Hannya masks or some oni characters? Plenty of stuff if you look into traditional Japanese culture

What about a couple of chrysanthemums to contrast the cherry blossoms? Or do they contradict rather than add contrast? I'm not a fan of the masks or fu dogs

Chrysanthemums sound a good shout. I think Japanese maple leaves could work well too? Maybe floating/drifting on the wind. I don't know if you have or not but if you google 'Irezumi' you should be able to find some good pics and probably symbolism pages to help you decide. End of the day it's down to you. I should say I don't have any tattoo's or anything but I've always likes the japanese irezumi stuff and i plan on getting a sleeve of some kind in the future.

This is it so far, adding more colour and background but with the background obviously he wants to start filling in the gaps. I've got a new artist who's going to improve the cherry blossoms and add more depth to the whole tattoo, which he wants to do first so not sure how much I'm even going to get done

Not happy with the last one, too many mistakes and the colour took her over 7 hours, not including the black bit right in the middle. And she started doing my cherry blossoms purple ffs!

I have both. Tbh the peony would suit better imo. The chrysanthemum has lots of petals and you dont want that in amonst the pheonix tail otherwise it could end up a bit messy.
