by ROYAL FAIL, postage prices admitadtly have shot up i went to post a wiper and a pair of interior door handles cost me £10 !!!!!!! was genuinely shocked even the lady behind the counter said last month that would of cost me a fiver!

they have definately lost my business and custom as the prices are crazy!cheapest you can apparently post now is £2.50 and thats standard no tracking and stuff!!! what do you guys use for posting small parcels my hermes? i understand petrol prices are going up etc but jheez thats bad

I posted to someone free on here and it cost me something like £3.75 recorded, small parcel etc.. The part probably cost less than that to buy

Cheeky fuckers. Loads of complaints by ebay sellers selling small non value items that now cost at least £2.50 to send as they are classed now as 'small parcel'.

Not that difficult to comprehend. They don't make money through letters any more, think something like 40% of their business is now packets, they take up more space in vans etc, meaning more vans,.more transport costs, more delivery costs etc...

Also, they regulated quite strictly by the government so have to keep wages at a certain price, can't compete on letters with UK mail, TNT etc who steal a lot of core business because they're allowed to charge less to handle the mail, which royal mail ultimately have to deliver at a loss.

10 quid is a lot. Will be interested to see what you can get from parcels2go etc.. Also the cheapest companies employ the scum of society who have to deliver 100s of parcels in their own van per day to break even.

(Yes I'm a postie, on the vans, so deliver 70odd every morning)

With mail they weren't allowed to charge less than a certain amount to handle a letter, TNT, uk mail etc... Came in offering less and got the business, from virgin media etc... While royal mail still has to sort and send the letter so make a loss on that kind of thing. As I said, I'm pretty sure that they have a minimum wage cap too, so have to pay staff x amount.

Parcels etc... I'm not sure on how strictly that's regulated. As I said that's the only part of the business they make money in, so guess they're exploiting it as much as possible

I posted two things yesterday:

An 18inch tyre using CityLink, they came to my house to pick it up and took it all the way to Scotland for me on next day delivery, £6 paid.

A mountain bike pedal arm, which I had to take to the post office myself, then used 1st Class delivery (not alway next day), £7.40.

i was shocked when i posted something today, £13 for something under 4kg,woman in the post office said that size is factored into the price now too.

i used myhermes last week (26th) but it took them 2 days to come and collect, when it was suppose to be next day. when i put the tracker code in it says it only arrived at myhermes central hub yesterday. dont know how long it will take to arrive. shit imo not using them again

I remember when my mail used to arrive by 9am and was actually delivered by a postie with his mail bag or bike.

Now they all seem too drive house to house in a van and I'm lucky if it gets delivered before I got home from work at 4pm!
