Shame they run Android. If I could get iOS on that bad boy I'd happily buy that.
It's nt too big if it still fits in your pocket, is what I say.

My Nexus 4 is a touch too big to use one handed safely (without dropping it), maybe I just have girly hands, so there is no way you could text one handed on that

That's ridiculous, the others one too big I reckon never mind going an inch bigger. People will buy it though just to have the new one.

I'm very curious as to what resolution all these screens are running. All those screen sizes pose a major issue for developers on a device designed to only run full screen apps.
On App Store on an iOS device you get the small "+" icon to show that an app is designed for both iPhone and iPad.
How does it work on the Play Store? Is there a list of 25 different sizes that the app suits or does it just scale and it's up to the user to determine if it's suitable for their device?

That's only Samsung screen sizes too...
My understanding is that developers include individual images for the certain resolutions (ldpi, mdpi, hdpi, and xhdpi etc), then let the Android OS do the scaling for the various screen sizes. Meaning if your phone is one of the ones that can take advantage of the optimal images that have been provided then sound, if not you get a scaled up/down/streched image.
That said, screen size is the least of an Android developers problems...

Either device filtering (which happens at Play store level) - so you design your app for use with a number of dpi's, devices are 'blocked' from downloading the app if they don't meet requirement; and/or use screen compatibility mode which, as Ash said, will scale the app to your devices screen.
And similar to iOS, you can setup different layouts for the app based on device.
Tbh it's a bit of a non-issue as you can get a pretty decent coverage of devices by creating drawables (imagery) in a handful of sizes and by including a number of app layouts.
Ash - Fragmentation is only an issue if you want to use new features of the API; no different to iOS to some extent.

I guess so but by implementing new features introduced in JellyBean (I use the term 'new' loosely given it nearly a year old) you alienate 75% of the userbase (possibly more if you use the play store 'blocking' to further filter out certain screen size/resolutions).
Whereas at least Apple developers can implement the latest features and still cater for 85% of the user base.
That said Java is so much easier than ObjC

Be interesting to see what features of iOS 6.1 API on a iPhone 5 are not available when using a 3GS.
Although under Android it's not as bad as you're making it out; differences between 17/16/15 is pretty minimal (change logs are available on the developers site if you're wanting to look) and 10 - 15 is manageable (depends entirely on the app your developing; can write backwards compatible routines if need be).
