I'm thinking of getting rid of my Cooper S shortly, and getting something a bit more grown up and slightly bigger.
Quite fancying a 130i M Sport, between like a 2005-2007 model, so it'll be 5 door.
Who's had this shape 1 Series, or even a 130i?
I'd love a 135i M Sport Coupe, but I can't justify spending about £15k for one!

I like them, didn't at 1st but the looks grew on me, been called a poor mans 3 series though but the sport versions should quash that! Lad at work has a convertible 1 series in white, red leather, quite smart

Nice cars. My other half has a 120d with performance package giving 200bhp. Goes well on the ABs, is comfy up front with the sports seats but lacks room in the back. Rear visibility is pretty poor, you'll be glad of PDC if you have it.
One of the best things about the car is the gear change though, lovely and precise.

Parts prices ain't too bad apparently but I'm yet to find out properly.
Around town it's pretty crap but I do a very short journey to work which does it no good.
Can see high 40s on a long motorway run which I thinks good

Suppose it can't be any worse than my Cooper S, I only managed to average 29mpg doing a 300 mile round trip on the M1 down to Santa Pod Usually get about 26mpg with a mixture of B-Roads and Motorway, i've seen much lower though
Tempting myself more and more, wonder what insurance would be like for me on one... Are you paying much to insure yours if you don't mind me asking?

£840 sounds alright! I've just paid £660 on the Mini at 21, just turned 22 though and sooner to have 4 years NCB hopefully! I'll have to do some quotes.
Yeah, hate the MPG in the Mini, but I love the sound of the Supercharger

Don't think you can get the 130 after 2007, not in my budget anyway

Ok, I've just looked and they do still have the 130i after 2007, and they are out of my budget really
What was facelifted in 2007?

My friend has one of the twin turbo diesels with a saloon body. Fuck me it's quick, gave my Boxster S a good run for it's money when accelerating!

very minor exterior but mainly interior - like door cards etc
Yes thay made them until 08 with LE the outrun model on the 130i. Later 130i's were 3 door and quite rare
Either way still a very good car

I went from a Cooper S to a 118D M-Sport, so did my mate. 2 years on we both still own them.
£30 tax, 44mpg even in stop start traffic, cheap insurance, plenty of power based on what you can actually use on the roads these days, comfy and grown up.
Could have gone for a 123D, or even a quick petrol but decided the money was better spent on something newer, lower mileage and better spec'd.

Didn't the engines receive an overhaul after 2007 as well? I know the diesels had more power as well as better fuel efficiency in the facelift models.

^ Yes, the engine Stop/Start was indroduced too, hence the lower tax.

A 335i M Sport will be around £14k for a decent spec, that's around 135i money at the minute. Both are over budget right now.

That explains why some 118D's are different tax then! I've been scratching my head at why some are £30 and the rest are £180 or whatever it is
