Anyone do this, or a variation of?
Some guy round here hired out a unit, filed it with ropes, tractor tyres and sledgehammers and started a business about two years ago.
If I want to loose wieght I'll run, if I want to gain weight I'll lift weights, this seems to be inbetween.
Can't imangine anyone getting massive flipping tyres...gimmick or not?

Looks like a good idea. the Mrs has been going on about starting doing something for a while, could be a good idea for her. Will keep her from under my feet!

Of course you can get massive flipping tyres. In fact flipping a tyre of a distinguished weight would be far more benficial than lifting the same amount on a machine.
MMA fighters flip tyres and use ropes on a regular basis.

Isn't this the sort of training that the "worlds strongest men" do??
Probably won't get you mega ripped, but i could imagine it will get you "massive".
The weight is there, and using it to its potential will see you get bigger and stronger surely.

I can see it getting you more ripped tbh, similar exercises are used for weight loss etc

Why would you only do this type of exercise? What a peculiar thing to want to see
It's a useful tool in developing functional muscle.
I sound like an expert btw, I'm actually a fat cunt but I read a shitload of MMA, boxing and muscle fitness literature.

You can't see how you get strong from lifting heavy objects? Really.
My mma gym has tires, ropes etc they are great for building proper strength.

Because the majority of people go to these classes as their ONLY form of exercise with a view to getting hench.
Thats the point I'm trying to make, I can't see it working.
However I can see it increasing your physical health, increasing stamina and possibly weight loss as opposed to weight gain.

In essence it is. You're asking if you can get massive from doing this.
Flipping tyres is essentially a deadlift, So youve asked if you can get massive from doing deadlifts....

Flipping tyres was just a generalisation of the types of activities involved, others include climbing ropes, jumping up and down on boxes, dragging weighted sleds etc.

This is what I do 3 times a week and boxercise once every 2 weeks. I was doing to the gym last couple of years. Kind of got bored and Stoped going. Moved house and didnt do anything for about 7 months. Then put on about a stone. I started this about 3 months ago. Have lost that stone and feel alot fitter. Duno why but makes you feel better with more get up and go.
It won't get you mega ripped no but its a good weight loss thing.

I actually go the Stoke Caveman training, well started a few weeks ago. Using it to compliment my weight training.
Lift weights 4 times a week then go this once a week, looking to start going twice.
Its circuit training really but harder than any one I have been before.
Gimmicky? I don't think so. It provides variation and offers something different to other circuits out there. Flipping tyres, sledge hammers, kettle bells will make you use muscles simply lifting weights won't.
I can't recommend it enough, each time I have been I have been absolutely beasted

I can imagine a lot of money in this at the moment. Women love bootcamp style training too so it all adds up.
I've been to a few gyms similar and everyone wants to do something epic, not just lift weights. Plus CrossFit is raising awareness.
The stuff will help with general fitness, but unless its planned well it will do little for pylometric/strength, particularly if its in a circuit.
