Small issue with an A4 TDI 07 plate.

The cruise control no longer works, eg when you hit set the light doesnt come on the dash and doesnt kick in at all.

Any ideas as to why? iv not even bothered checking any fuses yet as im not sure it would even be fused on its own?

sometimes there is a certain combination of buttons to press to turn these things on and off

Audi and persistent electrical faults go hand in hand. I had an A3 and was plagued by them.

As said, VAG and electrical faults are common. But as you say it may be an intricate way to activate it. Have a snoop through the owners manual, then jump on a VAG forum or find a VAG specialist and bend over.

When I bought my Golf (2002 TDI) the cruise control went intermittent then completely packed up a few days after and wouldn't activate. I traced the fault back to water ingress in the gearbox speed sensor. All the electrical contacts on the sensor and the plug were corroded. They cleaned up ok with some careful scraping with a pick and its been faultless ever since.

Brake light switch would be the first place to start for me, my second Ibiza played up with cruise control and glow plug lights, brake light switch sorted it for me
