my employee took his car for a "free" MOT on saturday, i said they would fail it and give him a list of problems.
Yes it failed and they wanted £700 to put it right, bushes, ball joints, shocks etc.
its a W reg fiesta.
I told him to get the guys next door to re mot it and it failed on a broken headlight bracket.
Thats it
cheeky bastids

I bet loads of people end up coughing up because your average noob, especially women, will have it in there heads that someone "reputable" like kwik fit, will sort the problem and not charge much, whereas they think backstreet garages will rip them off, which is why they go rushing to the larger company when anythings wrong with their car.
In reality kwik fit have almost certainly got an agenda to stick to when fixing cars, and that is to sell sell sell, even if the part is only slightly worn

Kwik fit are no different to anywhere else tbh. Probably no more expensive than a back street garage for labour rates.

We arent talking about their hourly rate though, more the invention of issues that dont exist to make money from unsuspecting customers.

I had this happen to my girlfriend at the time, who took her car to kwik fit and told her she needed new brakes (lie). She had them replaced anyway as she knew no better.

It gets better though, as 12 months down the line her brakes started making a noise, turns out they didnt even change the brakes but charged her for the work

i think it depends on how you look/act, whether you're male or female and whether you're a complete mug or not.

i can see how women easily get conned by all this. it's easy money to them.

as said, my workmate has told me they used to make holes in exhausts to get customers to buy new ones

Used them before for the first MOT on the ibiza as needed it in a hurry and thought surely it wont need anything.
When guy was handing me the cert he said "no advisories, thats a shock" felt like saying shock? Its a bloody 3 gear old car thats been well maintained, what was you expecting to find wrong?
