Edit - On a serious note, what's the damage to the screen? Or is just the screen backplate/outer casing?

There doesn't seem to be any. She said the two areas turned black on the screen, that's how she noticed it, but once it cooled off the screen seemed fine. Thought from the pic it looks like the casing might be stuck to the internals, so unsure whether it'll come apart without further damage.

You might not think it's "decent", but we have three of the old original MacBooks in the family, used daily, and I'd say they couldn't have been replaced by anything better at the same price.
