I'm using it on an iPhone 5. Not tried it on an iPad yet.
I like it - seems pretty stable. The control panel you can bring up anywhere by swiping upwards from the bottom of the screen is ace. It's great being able to perform various functions like adjusting the screen brightness or turning bluetooth on or off from anywhere.
I also like the new live thumbnails / ability to swipe up to close when you press the home button twice.
Not too sure on some of the new icons - hopefully they'll be tidied up for the proper release.
Siri's pretty good on it. Camera is much faster. That's about it.

Been using it for a few weeks now, it feels like a next generation OS, slightly minority report, clearly where the future of mobile OS is heading.

I like the ability to be able to restrict specific apps to Wifi/GPRS Only. Very useful when on holiday
I don't like the 9 app groupings. I found the 12 much better.
Overall its a good step up. Something they needed to do to please the share holders and press

A pull down (or up) menu with quick settings How do they think of these things?!
Dom will be at work soon won't he, I'll wait for his response to Ash before reading any more on the subject.

If it was bad I’d have no issue in saying so.
I like using it and the overall feel which is no surprise since it’s still iOS. However, that doesn't mean there aren't individual aspects that need work. Some of the icons like the voice memo's which has popped up in beta 2 is shocking, control centre is a bit cluttered (not sure it really needs the bottom 4 icons). Some things aren't intuitive like the bottom menu sliding away as you scroll down in Safari then having to tap to where it should be to get it back or the lock screen ‘Slide to unlock’ which only accepts a left swipe but has with arrows pointing up and down. I think Apple’s pinning on people being accustomed enough to just ‘know’ what to do without visual aids, not sure how well that will go down in September when the public get hold of it.
Other parts are pure genius, you feel like you play it more than use it. The detail in some of the animation is so intricate most people probably won't even notice. Although it’s obviously a long way off, you get a very slight feeling that this is what it would be like to use a holodeck in 50 year’s time with the transparency, physics and dynamics they’ve added this time round.

The slightly dodgy way is to pay someone to put you on their developer program - costs around $5-$10 normally.
Other than that pay up the $99 to become a developer

If a budget iPhone comes out it's another nail in the coffin.
A massive part of the Apple appeal (especially sinse they are diluting everything else) is that it's high end, high quality.
As a brand making cheap stuff, they just won't last.

Would a budget iPhone have a different processor etc. or would it just be the materials used to make the phone?

At a bit of a guess they'd probably use most of the hardware from whatever the last generation normal iPhone was. They couldn't let it lag too far behind though or iOS and the apps would need different versions, which they wouldn't (at the moment anyway) do.

since its not actually been confirmed by apple, no ones got a clue. i'd suggest it'll be 4S internals so they can take that off sale, so the entire line has the same aspect ratio and lightning port.

see above it wont be worse quality, just not as good internally so the range is unified. basically a new shell for the 4S.
they then have the "budget" one, the 5 for the mid range and the 5s for the high end.
