Been offered a quote by Adrian Flux that beats the next best price by £100, but I'd have to have a box fitted to the car.
The guy on the phone said that it just monitors mileage and not speed/acceleration/location etc, but I'm a bit concerned at how it's going to monitor mileage without these things, as they're not going to wire it into the car so it must be a standalone gps chip or something.
Anyone had any experience or know anything about it?

I'd rather pay £100 than let them track me.

Well yea that's what I'm thinking, but it's not cheap insurance. Talking £700 instead of £800 so trying to save all I can.

Would you want to take the risk? Sod that malarky. Problem is the more people who do it the more common it will become before it's enforced. Spend £100 more. If it was a £500 difference then maybe worth considering, but I think I'd still rather spend £500 more.

Not a chance i'd have one of those boxes in my car, even if it was 500 quid more expensive.
100 quid isn't even a tenner a month. Would you honestly be bothered about pqying an extra £2.50 a week to be able to drive without worry of big brother analysing you?

Don't want one, got one anyway because my insurance is through the roof... Still is with the box but it's a £700 saving.
They're not brilliant, corner too fast, they moan at you, have to make an emergency stop because someone pulls out on you, they moan at you, stall, and they moan at you, etc.
Not really worth having.

They secretly put one onto my quote and didn't tell me until I was footing up the bill, I very swiftly told them I'll go elsewhere
For an extra £10 a month or whatever it's not worth having it in there

Ah fuck that then, cba with them ringing me up all the time. It's an evo so it gets the cobwebs blown away sometimes.
I've also heard that we'll all be getting them at some point. Got a mate who works in IT at an insurance company and says that's all they're working on

You have an evo that 'gets the cobwebs blown away sometimes' and your thinking about having your driving monitored? If you can afford to have an evo as a weekend toy surely your can afford to spend an extra £100 on insurance

An evo and contemplating getting a tracking box put in it

I did tell them I wasn't interested but the guy insisted that it only tracked mileage so just wondered if anyone knew anything more.
Ofcourse I can afford an extra £100 but that's no reason to pay it. Pretty sure everyone wouldn't say no to having £100 knocked off their insurance.

Tell them you want it in writing that it only tracks the mileage, with the option of cancelling the policy for a full refund if they pull you up for anything else.

Its not that I'd be worried about. You can bet your life that if you were in a big smash they'd use it against you.
