Another BMW!!

My wife doesnt like driving the estate as says she finds it to big So generally 5 out of 7 days its sat on the drive; ive done 4000 miles in the 7 months Ive had it and just think its a bit of a waste.

Have found the above up for £20K with 4,000 miles on; but still not 100% sure its the correct thing to do

My BM is this

If the wife don't like it I'll change it do you have a need for a estate that's what you need to work out with downsizing ?

We have occasional need for an estate so thinking of then changing the 55 plate leon we have for an estate of similar value for when we do; but the new car would be used the majority of time by both of us.

The 3 series looks loads nicer, be a shame to have to downgrade! Can you not train your wife better

Tbh i'm sure the 1 series is plenty big enough for most things.

It may be ugly, but they do seem rather popular.

My mrs has trouble driving a focus. I've got no hope of her driving a decent hot hatch.

She will drive it; just prefers to use the Leon due to the size and the places she goes etc.. Which I can understand.

The 1 series is big enough for most as we have had the previous shape. She wants a Q3 but I was n'tbowled over and was going to cost £5K more than I am going to be getting for the BMW!! We have a dog and child which is why sometimes we will need more space than the 1 series.

I do love the look of mine tho and its exactly what I wanted when I ordered it!

Estate is lovely, wouldn't mind one myself but couldn't for the same reason, the wife wouldn't be comfortable driving it and it'd come back scratched and dented within a week.

Hoping to go for a middle ground of a 2 series when they're out.

I'd imagine she'll have the same issues in a Q3 tbh. 1 Series is nice but nicer cars for much less than £20k, could get a smart mini D for less than half that.

which is why she doesnt like using it as she knows I will notice every new mark on it; which she is rite!!

The Q3 isnt to big and visibility was good being up so high; and had a little more load space than the A3.

The mini is too small really; only 4 seats and no boot space for dog or buggy let alone both! TBH I cant find a much nicer spec and performance car for £20K thats only 6 months old and I know how much I like BMW's

If the rear visibility on the new 1 series is anything like our older shape you might aswel be driving a van.

Forgetting you've got a kid. How about the new Merc A-Class?

I'd just stick with what you have happy in the knowledge it won't get damaged because she won't drive it.
Knowing she doesn't want to use it sounds perfect to me

Ahh I see the 1 series rear view is like the Mito then, looking out of a postbox?

I can't bring myself to like the new 1 series yet, can't the missus just learn to drive an estate car? I'd just tell mine to deal with it, it's a 3 series estate not a LWB hi top Transit...

The only benefit of the one series over yours is colour imo.

If it makes financial sense, swap.

If it doesn't (and I doubt it does, depreciation etc) keep the 3.

Reversing visibility is horrendous on the 1.

Don't understand how she thinks the 3 is big with parking sensors and all other aids.

Women.
