People just left uni to do teaching protesting about doing teaching

"Yeah but we work til 8 everynight marking"

You get 13 weeks holiday every year, someone worked out that if you add on a generous amount of overtime everyday, taking into account the 13 weeks holiday they end up with about 5 weeks holiday per year, guess what, that's what every other cunt whos happy in their job gets.

Im in schools working nearly everyday and quite a few teachers are commenting that they actually feel pretty lucky to get the 13 weeks holiday etc.

Fuck off the rest of you cunts

Lazy cunts.

My Mrs has been in work today (not in a union) and there were 12 kids in because of the strikes. Which poor cunts had to sort out alternative arrangements for their kids for the day? The parents who are supposed to be at work!

Striking should be a sackable offence within public sector and PLCs imo

lol.

There are some genuine reasons to be pissed off, mainly about pensions, but people who have just left uni doing teaching now protesting about it, having paid in about 2 quid to a pension takes the biscuit tbh

My wife is a deputy head of a primary school and she doesn't agree with striking and didn't when her Union advised it.

I think striking is a disgrace.

Marking is a chore and I used to hate it, but that was mostly because I couldn't understand what people were saying because their English was so shit.

Penalises the students, mostly.

Teachers have a weak case if they appear to cope. They'd do better running out of time while the job was going on. They'd look silly in the short term but that's preferable to claiming to work overtime and getting it all done, then having a day off.

My wife was in work today, and is still marking and planning now. Even in the summer holidays does work most days.

Penalises students as Ian says.

Shafts the parents who need to go to work to earn a living. Who is going to look after their kids??

IMO if you aren't happy with working conditions, not turning up is completely the wrong way to go about improving things.

Also...most of these teachers on "Strike" aren't on the picket line, making their case, they are using it as a free day off and are at home on the sofa or shopping.

Because it's an excuse for lazy people to get off work.

Anyone not in a union is just happy to have a job.

A guy on my Facebook who is a teacher told me this link gives the reasons they're striking...

http://www.theguardian.com/education/2013/sep/30/michael-gove-destruction-of-school-democrac

Apparently they just disagree with Cove's suggestions, so have gone on strike.

I'm amazed anyone on here cares, usually only get people moaning when Royal Mail go on strike. (Which incidentally will probably happen in a couple of weeks)

Has pissed me off most today that the lead story was America, not this, which has directly affected thousands of people. Also means that any message the teachers were supposedly sending isn't going to get across as its not getting as much publicity as some crap that's happening in the states, which kinda negates the whole point of a strike.

Don't get me wrong, Gove is an utter, utter bellend.

But striking is pointless.

They're striking because their pay has been frozen. If they want guaranteed annual pay rises they should go work...well nowhere.

They should work in the private sector where holiday entitlement is worse than what they currently get.

Its only a matter of time before schools and teachers are replaced by apps.

Was at Alton towers today and queues were twice as bad as they yesterday. Put this down to the teachers strikes.

Why should they? Theyve always had boat loads of time off and too much pension so why should that change just because everyone else is suffering the 'credit crunch'?

My misses is a primary school teacher. Some days she will be marking until 9pm, other days finishes work at 4 and home at 4:10.

Some days they just got on trips, other days she has half a day ppa time.

Primary is as far as my knowledge goes, but she has a bloody easy life!
