Trying to justify my spending to the mrs

Sometimes nothing sometimes £1k.
I blame driving wears everything out.

Running costs are static, and any mods/maintenance comes out of my "spending money".
Whether I spend my money on beer, clothes or the car is irrelevant.

What do you spend on motors per month, other than petrol for doing a million miles?

Forget about my ridiculous current mileage, i'm trying to sort that out by moving closer to the office.
Currently I don't spend any money on cars unless things are required. Mainly because of saving up to move.

Fairly easy to justify if you're only spending what is needed, the justification is you needed it

same here. Much easier doing that than trying to explain why I just spend 500 quid and half a days travelling on some alloys.

I run it past the missus to make sure there's enough to spend on the car before I just pay out.

Why would you need to justify anything to anyone if all you are doing is running a car like most other people.
Surely you can work out roughly what youre spending a month on petrol, tax, insurance

My car, my money. Why does she need to know ? I don't ask or want to know how much she spends on clothes, bags, makeup etc.

been with our lass nearly 8 years now, lived together the whole time, the daily car money comes out of our money and tbh doesnt cost us a great deal cos its a daily shitter thats cheap to run (id rather have second hand steelys on it than alloys)
i keep the other car thing separate, but she never trys to dip into mine, if anything she buys me stuff sometimes, mainly occasions like birthdays or xmas....
when i was all about lower it and make it looks 'cool' as a road car she hated it, now im making a drag car she pays a slight interest in it, she loved pvs, she bought me a fiber glass tailgate and some R888's as a gift once...
she doesn't know that i know but there's a wideband in the purchased list on her ebay, must be xmas soon
...but to answer your question on how much you spend a month, im lucky if i get £50 out of my wages a month, the rest is purely funded on selling all the uneeded bits. i.e buy a car for £180, sell enough parts off it till you've got £3-400 and keep the bits you need haha
or that silver tigra i had, i only paid £60, found out it was too rotten so scrapped it, it weight in for £72 without engine, dash/interior... ALWAYS PROFIT thats my motto

so far this year I've spent a total of £4150.55; that's £2372.37 on fuel, £1225.99 on maintenance and £552.19 on overheads (insurance, tax, etc.). Its currently in for service and MoT so it'll go up after this weekend by another few £££. That's no modifications or aftermarket things just general running costs to get to work and back.
I've done less miles than normal this year so only running at 15,850 miles up to now which equates to a total cost per mile of 26ppm.
