My issue with it is that we try to take a morally right approach, and in that instance it is morally wrong and a crime. The problem is the powers that be pick and choose when to act morally or not to suit them. There are many acts of war we have been ordered to do that could be considered morally wrong and equally as criminal as what this guy had done.

would the taliban insurgent have been put on trial if he had done the same to the british soldier? yeah right, what a joke they were at war not on a peacekeeping mission, who's to say he didnt have a hidden weapon on him?

my point is a missile can be fired into a building and kill people, now there could be innocent people in that building and the person who fired that missile is no better than the soldier in question?
I find it hard to believe if anyone was being fired at by an insurgent and you wounded him and in turn captured him you wouldn't feel the need to finish him off, be it with a bullet to the chest or a sub zero fatality finishing move.

Have you all heard the audio around this?
When he is saying not to tell people? Knows what he did was wrong, and still did what he did. Got caught, now faces punishment,

Ok reading up on this more it is a complete joke.
He was shot by an Apache originally and then shot in the chest by the marine.
What is dictated to the for sec is that we are at war if insurgents are killed in battle that is ok however if they are wounded we must use aid on them and attempt to save there lives so they can become prisoners of war (but released a few years later) crazy, why are we even at war.

They knew all this when they signed up though..
I'm not saying the rules are right or wrong. I'm saying he knowingly broke them

^^ as generation said
would it be the same if it was the other way round, who knows, probably not, but he is a royal marine commando, if the UK public thought they were just funding a shooting holiday for these boys then there'd be uproar.

He shot someone in the chest after thinking he turned off a surveillance camera and then said something along the lines of breaching the Geneva Convention. He knew what he was doing and rules is rules I'm afraid.

Its war imo. Should be killing each other. If we too pc to not kill people during a war. No wonder they take 10yrs and no one wins and nothing gets achieved. Big waste of money. This country is absolutely bonkers. Probably gonna spend millions on a court case now. Excellent. Well done. War huh. What is it good for?

The soldier who pulled the trigger probably had a moment where he thought he was James Bond or Jason Bourne etc. Being sentenced to life is a reminder to all that he was nothing but stupid, and his actions do nothing for the greater good.
It's obvious that if the roles were reversed, everyone would be pleased that a Taliban soldier was slammed up in prison for murdering a wounded british soldier. To be honest, the majority of the British people would probably want the said Taliban soldier killing as a result of what he did.

Kill em all. Anyone with a gun is fair game imo. Whichever side they are employed by. Its like taking part in a water fight and moaning when you get wet.

Whether the taliban guy would have done the same to us or not, or even the fact he most likely deserved it, is irrelevant. Not doing shit like that keeps us being better than them.
Even more of an issue is the idiot that left his camera on. The public knowing about it happening (worldwide) is a much bigger deal than whether it did or not.
