It's not a shame at all.

The engines had hit their peak, being n/a.

V6 turbo's means we'll see massive evolution over the next few seasons.

Some of the stuff is very cool too, like kers and drs.

Wonder how long it'll be until we see the ~1,500bhp engines of the mid 80's?

What, with the engines? They'll never be used again, so they put them into their death throes as a fitting send off.

This. F1 has become boring with all these new rules and regs. No one ever over takes anyone unless they put

This, behind Vettels domination there has been some good racing, it's just not as noticeable when they aren't challenging for 1st.

Meh. For the most part, it sounds like someone using a plasma cutter, or angle grinding through some corrugated iron to me.

With the exception of Barrichello's '09 Brawn 001, i've had little or no interest in any V8 F1 cars since they phased the DFV out.

The V12s and V10s were where it was at.

With the advent of super fugly cars, tiny capacity engines, all the uber corporate money-money-money bollocks, plus associated wankers. And the likes of button, hamilton and vettel at the wheel, I walked away from F1 a long time ago.

I've not even glimpsed a race in about three years. And prior to 2009, I hadn't watched one in even longer.

Such a shame. I used to adore Formula One.

Well, they usually do. They normally run the previous year's car at Goodwood every summer.

They have spare new engines no doubt still, they'd only kill the engine they ran in the last race I imagine.

I imagine it was done once they'd shipped everything back to the HQ.

The last race was only a week ago.

Agreed! The 3.5 litre V8s, V10s and V12s of the early 90s sounded far far better.

I do the same thing just before i service my car, use up the old spark plugs as much as possible.

Its normal practice when you own a race car

I heard the Lotus and Maruissa go past me at Goodwood twice, and my god the noise is fucking epic.

Sound phenomenal to me.

Also, Vettel is one of the best drivers F1 has ever had already, and he is only 26.... Don't get this animosity towards him, he's German and even has a sense of humour and a passion. Not my favourite, but he deserves the respect.

He's an incredible driver, but I find the extent of his talent boring. He himself, great guy, but Germans have a very clinical driving style that personally I find boring.

Is better racing to watch on tv, F1 is an amazement, but boring to watch.

Nothing wrong with Vettel, can't blame him for winning.

I can't tell people enough how incredible they sound in the flesh. I know people who have watched/followed F1 their whole lives and have never heard one properly.

I'll never forget the first one I heard, nor will I forget the look on my missus' face the first time she heard one. We'd watched Porsche Super cup, GP3 and GP2 cars all day - but nothing came close to an F1 car testing for clutch bite at the pit exit. EPIC.

First time I heard one was when Red Bull had a celebratory run through Milton Keynes after winning in 2011.
Lad next to me had ear defenders on, I thought he was being a puff and then they went by...3-4 metres away.
Literally thought i'd burst an eardrum.
