Can you all give me some suggestions where else to look? I'm just using Rightmove as I can't find anything else that has a website that works in a similar fashion, can't be bothered to search through Estate Agent websites looking at houses that don't even suit what I want.
Thanks!

I use rightmove. Specifically the "draw a search area". Define the actual area you want to search in, save it and away you go. Daily email updates based on search critera etc

I just used Rightmove and most of the lads in work did when looking for a house. Best website imo.

Rightmove/Zoopla would be great if it covered everything, but it doesn't - so is worthless to me.
Only way to really see everything that's available is by browsing individual estate agents in turn.

I didn't know that anything wasn't put on rightmove now. Unless it's somewhere that the house will be gone that day anyway, surely a mistake not to?

Didn't realise you could subscribe by email to a search result, I'll do that
Seems right move is the one to stick at. Just always hear about people snapping houses up cheap I guess it's just luck of the draw and moving on them fast

I didn't either, I'd been using rightmove exclusively for my search about 3 months ago and heard about some properties which had come up by word of mouth which matched my requirements perfectly. Couldn't find them after a few days' searching and ended up driving to go look my self.
Sure enough, saw the boards outside and after a call with the estate agent I found that they weren't on Rightmove.
Once I knew that, I found a fair few properties the same - not sure why, keeping costs down for the client maybe?

99% of estate agents are on rightmove and the ones that aren't are most likely the smaller independent estate agents.
I've only ever used rightmove. You can get an app aswell which makes phone browsing easy.
Bought my current house after seeing it on there and missed out on another

I guess it would be keeping the costs down but your also missing out on such a huge part of the market it arguably will cover it self as your more likely to find people wanting to buy your house.

Costs agents circa £1k per month to advertise on RM, those in small towns just don't need it. We have client lists, shop fronts etc, relying on RM for business is short sighted and frankly piss poor. If you want to be kept up to date register with the agents covering the area you're after.

That's like saying anyone who wants to sell stuff shouldn't use ebay.
Don't make rightmove sales your main business plan but not being on it is a bad thing overall, not a good thing.
Completely understand if it costs so much etc btw, that's not enough to make it bad.

No it's not. Ebay is one of many websites to sell products from, including your own site obviously.
Business for the agents out in the sticks comes from passing trade, locals and newspaper ads, they don't need Rightmove to sell a house. We don't need it to sell houses, just another source of enquiries.

In 9 months of looking I've only found 2 that I even wanted to look at.

I was exactly the same mate. Missus showed me so many houses and I said no to them all.
Eventually I went to view about 10 just to keep her happy, even though I wasn't keen on them.
Few weeks later I was having a browse and noticed a house in an area we hadn't looked at before (chafford hundred). Looked at a few and went round the area and liked it so moved there.
something will come up eventually, you just have to be patient.
