I'd have no problem with a pay monthly vehicle tax system

I quite like the idea of being able to pay monthly and as the article states, the police are using ANPR these days rather than checking the disc.

Not a bad idea at all really. I'd still rather pay for my car tax yearly though, but it seems that is going to still be possible

Did you know that tax disc money doesn't go towards the roads

Well since there are over 30 million vehicles on the UK roads, and each one will need a physical paper disk every year, and a bloke in the post office to sell you said disk, if each disk cost the government 50p then there's a 15 mil cost to them yearly just in getting a tax disk to you.
This new system is not going to cost 15 mil, and even if it did it would have paid for its self in the first year.

I would've thought the system was mostly already in place with everything being recorded electronically anyway.

I'd be paying almost £81 a month. I'd rather just pay when it's due for the 6 or 12 month.

I reckon mine will go up, i think the pre2001 rule isn't working for them so they are looking for an excuse to charge more.

If you get a tax disc with an expiry date and no further price hikes, it will work.
If you don't, it'll be an unmitigated disaster for the little man. As per usual.
