There must be something about this site because everyone seems to end up having an E46 M3,

I've never had one before but I had a hankering for an SMG and then a mate randomly said "Buy mine, I need some cash"...

It was offered to me at a price I could not refuse! Sadly its a manual (even though everyone told me manuals are better) but its done 50k, its one of the very first face-lift models and its straight as a die (strange for me not to buy a bent car).

So far its just sat on the drive looking sorry for its self until I actually find some time to actually drive it.

No doubt I'll be bored after 10 minutes

I'm slightly tempted to take it to combe on Saturday... I'll probably smash it up though

Remember the M3's never got the new headlights (because the wings are different).

They just got the Shark fin, LED rear clusters, DVD for satnav and some slight mods to the climate control.

The sharkfin and DVD came in the pre-facelift. Facelifts also have a slightly different bit above the rear numberplate.

There might be a few tiny differences with the dashboard as well, meaning you can program M-Track Mode, which is basically an intermediate traction control, halfway between completely on and off.

Mine is a September 2002 build, so whilst its a pre-facelift, its a late enough model to have some of the newer bits.

It is a facelift. Has LED rears and they changed late 2003.

Very nice car, can't beat the look of a black one with black leathers.

Its something that gets programmed in, not something it comes with from the factory. Its close to the CSL traction control settings, more aimed for the track (hence track mode.)

I have it programmed in on mine, it lets you play a little bit, rather than not giving you any leeway whatsoever or chucking you into a hedge.

Misunderstood your post. Mine is a late enough pre-facelift to have the updated braking system, but not the newer dash.

Best mod for any smg imo is the m5 gearknob
